Have you tried the "Portal" yet?

Underneath the advertisment banner about in the middle of the row of buttons you'll see a new one with some gears on it. It says "Portal."

Forensic tells me that this is the way of the future as far as message boards go. We've been kinda going round and round with whether this should be the default or not when you come to RDP.

The main reason he likes it, is you can get to alot more places from one screen, alot more information, and the last 25 new posts regardless of forum are displayed.

I don't like it, becuase it's new and different.. LOL And I like to be able to nagivate from forum to forum just by clicking "V-drives" or "Jetboats etc..


Click on it, and tell me what you think of the Portal. Good, Bad, or indifferent.

I clicked on it earlier and checked it out briefly. didnt spend much time on it. was gonna ask what the deal was with it but got busy trying to knock out some work.

Messed around with it for a few minutes... it takes some getting used to, no doubt about that. As far as if I like or dislike it, haven't used it enough to form an opinion.

But now that I know about it, I'll try and used it more to get the hang of it.

only bad thing i see is you can't skip to the last page of a certain thread.. makes RDP surfing slower you know how we like to be productive and shit

I figured out my inability to see the portal...
A while back in my User CP, I switched skins to the forum default. If you are not using iPhorum you dont get any of the cool buttons.
It's under Edit Options:

Forum Skin

There is more than one skin in which you can view the forums. If you would like to switch to a different skin, select it from this list.

Forensic Im with you on that. I like it. It might take some getting used to for some people. Maybe a big, obvious link to the regular forums page would ease that. I really like seeing the latest posts though as Im a dork and am on the comp all day at work so I check here REGULARLY. lol!

Seems simple enough, just like clicking new posts with a lot of other info on the sides. I usually come on here and just click new posts, its usually only a page or 2 ( I am on the interent a lot) so I can scan everything new since I was last here. Upgrades are usually good just takes time to get use to them - then more change will come along.

Huh.. Forgot about the default skin. I'll add a link on the nav bar for it soon.

Not a problem...I changed it to see if the different colors would be easier to differentiate.
I just never bothered to switch back.

glamisdunes.com started this about a year ago or so. It isn't bad. Yes, you have to retrain your eyes, but as long as you have a button/link to the normal screen, I like it.

Just make the link very visible on the portal page so everyone sees it quickly and can get the the regular programming they are used to.

Go for it, it looks cool.

I like it, but I am used to it from another site I frequent. It definately makes it easier to keep up on multiple parts of the board just by refreshing the portal.
