I have …
Ok Had a contractor at the house doing work…

He hasn’t showed up for over 3.5 weeks… called a few times no answer.

txted him earlier in the week asking when he would be back to work - said he will be there Friday - tomorrow !

we will see!

AC guy had him out for a quote & while he was at the house to look at what I wanted to do, He said, I want to get my tech out here to look at it….

That was 2 weeks ago !

Havasu must have A LOT of that Minyana in the water that Mexico has….

I don’t get it….

It's not just Havasu...still waiting on responses from both a concrete guy and a sheetrock guy for my preschool project. Both I'd had work done by before.
Found a concrete guy that showed up at the time he said to measure, sent me a bid the next day and poured 2 weeks later. My wife married a construction dork, so he got stuck hanging rock 🤣

Pick me, pick me!!!
Yea havasu contractors suck. The havasu boom has ruined their reputations. I imagine they were all decent at one time, but being a reputable contractor also means you take on the work you can handle. They all take whatever comes their way wether they can fulfill the work or not. Havasu has not seen a boom like this, ever, All the local contractors, realtors, agents, etc etc etc are what we call, Riding the “wave”. Good for them I guess. But they are also creating the demise of an awesome “local” town. Sad to say but they need some hateful Cali contractors out there to get shit done out there. Lol. End of my rant.

It's mañana...

means tomorrow...

Translates in construction language as indefenet...

Make sure not to pay them in advance of work completed.
You are correct!

but
minyana is slang for sometime in the future…..

No definite date.
tomorrow, next week, next month

If they are busy they need to say so, not string ya along…

I’m asking what their lead time is he kept saying. 3-4 days….

The AC guy will be the last guy I call on a Hot July Day ! I’d call the Hampton Inn for a room before him !

I have endless stories like this after 23 years of owning a house there. There are good people out there, but I think the flakes outnumber the good ones.

Had our A/C worked on and the guy was awesome. Did it the same time as the roof. The roofer was great to work with as well. Both did a neighbor’s house and they hustled. Not sure if it was that the AC and reroof were done at the same time and rather clean work. I just told them I wanted it done and expected them to do the work right the first time. Let me know if you need names Doug. 👍

In Mexico it generally means tomorrow.. further south is means “not today”. lol

I have recommended weatherman on here quite a bit for AC and people seem to be happy.

One of our own members will be opening a new AC company in 30-45 days. He owned a good sized company in California and sold it and later moved to Havasu.

In the last 3 1/2 years, I've had a pool built , outdoor kitchen built , AC splits installed in the RV garage, block wall, wrought iron gates, golf course net installed, granite work, shower doors. (Maybe other stuff, can't remember) and honestly everyone I called showed up and did the work that they were hired to do.

Its mind blowing not just how shitty contractors are here, but also how high the actual percentage of them are. Its not just a few in each trade or one trade in general...its most. You definitely aren't bidding for pricing, you are bidding on just who you can get to show up.

Literally dealing with it right now with concrete guys...flipped out on one flake yesterday.

I tried Weatherman by your recommendation and he was great. Called to say on his way, on time, and reasonable rates.
I was eliminated as a client from a previous A/C biz that I used for years and many homes because i questioned a bill

I made the mistake of using a friend in the pool biz to replace a pool control panel.
Pool not working. He was a week late.
Month and a half still not working.
He got mad because I texted him while he was on vacation and he ended friendship
He walked away from job
I had to go to his house to get rest of parts and finish job myself

Nope, this has nothing to do with any Havasu Boom, it was this way 29 years ago and is the product of those possessing the "Free Spirit" mind set that brought them here to begin with. Eventually you come to expect it, despite the hollow promises and despite knowing this, it's still frustrating.

Recently replaced our 4Ton AC heat pump and air landler. 3 local HVAC contractors responded. Each seemed thorough as they looked at the job. Of the 3, one never provided a quote/estimate, one was extremely high, the other was The Weatherman. We went with The Weatherman. They responded, on time and did a good job. We selected a unit that provided the $2K Fed Tax Credit. Didn't mess with the local rebates. Too many hoops to jump thru.

Weatherman is definitely one of the good companies out there. Since Carey passed, we have use them and they have been great.

The Weatherman does excellent work.
I also had the opportunity to have Mike Valentine @ Modern Air install a mini-split recently, the service and job was over and above as he was dealing with my delays, and he pointed me in the right direction for some other trades.

Have you dealt with Sunrize recently?
You might want to get a 2nd estimate next time
Parker garage came out same day vs Shavers in 2 weeks but you pay for it
Yes I had Sunrise out about a month or two ago. They are always responsive and IMO the pricing matches the service.

As for Parker garage door, they installed a roll up between our RV and 2 car garage in the summer of 2021 and IMO the pricing in line. $2800 for the door installed. The other bid was $3100 and no one else even understood what I wanted.

I have been in Havasu for 6 months now. I stopped looking for a good deal becasue those guys arent making any money and dont want to show up to loose more money on a job they under bid. Since I have been hiring they more expensive guys I dont have any issues with getting little projects done. This town is full of guys that quit working for the man becasue they think they can do it better. They end up robing Petter to pay Paul and end up broke not able to fininsh any jobs. They are the cheap guy every one talks about.

My neighbor saved $10k hiring this landscaper. It took almost a year to complete the work and he constantly had to chase him down and show up at his house to get the job done.

This. It’s not hard to find quality work in Havasu now. But you need to be willing to pay for it.

Having legitimate crews, equipment, office staff etc comes at a price.
