I could certainly be talked into going! I've done it a few times, but honestly couldn't tell you the right way without going into the reserve. I always had a navigator that knew the way. LOL

Getting to the 40 is easy. Knowing where to go around the refuge is a little more challenging, but I'd bet we can figure it out.

From what Ian was telling me that's like 87 miles ONE WAY! That trip sounds far more complicated to me than going to topock? It's something I want to do though!

87? No. Like 35. Took like 90 minutes down with no hurry. 60 minute back. Did dirt to about cat tail. 95 asphalt to about havasu springs. Then dirt to the gas station back way in.

SJP and I did the run. Stay on the right side of the highway behind the Dodge dealer dirt road. Go to the area where the RV park in the desert and cross the road at that point. Next stop is Loves. Cross the bridge over the highway 40 and hit the dirt road. It follows highway 40. When we got pretty close we went under a small bridge and drove right into Topock.

From Daves to the desert bar and from
Lowe’s in havasu to topock ( the legal way around the refuge)

The havasu to desert bar the “man way” is something like 70 miles one way.

Havasu to topock and back is around 60 round trip.

Its not complicated. Get the route from @Bpracing1127 or use the Arizona Peace Trail Map. Its a half day trip there and back.

It's about 40 miles from the Cabin on the route I have. Once you get to planet ranch, the next 20 ish miles is dirt road or shea rd. Last 10 miles in to Desert Bar is trails.

I’m planning on doing a topock run. I’ve done in several times. You can make it on either side of the 95. You’ll need to no where to turn off the 40 to go around the reserve. I’m planning on going on the east side of the 95 there and the west side on the way back.

You need a PC and a SD card reader to get the files you create on to the card and into the GPS. (I used my kids Amazon Fire Tablet in a pinch)

Use this as a guide, go make yourself a quick 3-5 mile loop and try it out.

Over Thanksgiving weekend we went from Moabi to Needlenose to Oatman all dirt. I was BSing with a group of guys in SxS's and they said they drove up from Havasu all dirt.

Dont be a bunch of wussies, figure it out! n Oatman to Topock isnt that far of a drive and can be covered pretty quick.
