Our pool heater isn’t firing up. Our pool person doesn’t work on them. The company assigned by the Home Warranty isn’t calling back.
Any suggestions on companies in town?

Did it work recently? Have you flushed the filter ( could it be an over pressure on the system - which is causing it not to kick on ?? )

Yeah, it worked 2 weekends ago. My youngest came out last weekend and it didn’t fire up. Smells like gas coming out but no heat. I’ll double check the pressure and try again.

What heater do you have?
Fault codes on the display?
Have you cleaned filters? Could be under pressure or low flow
Pentair MiniMax NT.
No fault codes & filters were just cleaned. Good pressure.

I have this same heater (18 years old) and recently had this happen to me, replaced the thermistor and fixed! It won't fire if the temp reading is faulty.

One other thing to check is the vacuum line that goes to the exhaust fan, I have had rodents nibble through the line which will cause it not to fire. Check the line that connects here, follow it back to the control panel, if any vacuum leaks - heater will not fire.

If there are no fault codes I might guess the igniter. Not sure if the igniter would throw a code
I would try old school and shut breaker off to heater for a bit and then try again
I started with the ole flip off/on. It’s my main go to on pretty much everything.

I used to have the same heater at my house in OC. That thing was a piece of shit. Remove the thing at the bottom ( don't know what is called, sorry lol) that the gas comes thru and clean the orfice on each one. Mine had 5 or 6 sometimes they get blocked by spiders and shit.

Already did it. Hoping the new place calls
I was hoping you said Old Republic I would have my wife connect you with her counterpart in Havasu. Calling for a new tech is the way to go. My guess is that the gas flow valve may have gone bad inside the heater if you hear the fan cycle. Of course if you mess with it and they can tell it will get denied. That’s what my problem was a few years ago. First tech pissed me off telling me I needed a whole new heater and it was not covered and he even pulled fuse so it wouldn’t power up. I just replaced the valve myself and had them send another guy out for a free second opinion to verify that it was all working so I would still have coverage.

Update -
Dinner was Fabulous

The company was even better!

service was good, got a table & no waiting, They had a few open tables and space at the bar - Which was a plus ! It got busy about 7:45 / 8 normally slows down some a little later.

the Sea-bass special looked D-Lish !

It was Great !

We didn’t off road w/ DWC this past winter so nice to get caught up! I didn’t do a lot of local off roading.
I told him about the Laughlin run. Think they might be in for that ride.

They are Very nice and always fun to hangout with!

Hearing about his daughters honeymoon hike in Spain sounds epic! As a young person/ couple just starting a life together & then setting out on that type of an adventure is something that will last a lifetime …

very cool

I had the sliders and northsidefries last night.
We were early enough to get happy hour menu.
Delish!

Dinner was really good. I had the sea bass. Would absolutely have it again. Doug did win the dinner selection award. We were all eyeballing the pork chop.
@LargeOrangeFont. Sorry, we only end up drinking beers and eating brats. (Although free is good). We still need to get the families together soon.

Thanks. I figured you might work for HG. They found another tech an hour later. They’re coming Monday to check it out. Hope to come back for Father’s Day with a working spa and roof without holes!
