Have you worked with or know the acting manager that is replacing her for the time being?

And did they screw up Linda's last name? This artical says Linda Smith but everything else I've read says Linda Miller.

They always screw up something it is Miller not smith. The facebook news herald post is getting good. Even a USFW employee telling people to go back to California. And they wonder why they have the reputation around here they do

Daryl has been assistant refuge manager at Havasu since prior to my arrival here. I think highly of him. Prior AZGFD and Alaska Trooper experience. And yes, they screwed up Linda Miller's last name, but that seems fairly typical.

Guys, I just dropped my son off for his first day of kindergarten and there were crosswalks and speed restrictions all around the school. No child needed to get run over at the school for responsible public safety managers to see the potential for a tragedy and take proactive steps to avoid an accident. Same thing here. And just to keep this conversation honest, FWS never closed Speed Alley- we just extended an existing no wake zone by half a mile.

But I have to disagree with your analogy though. When I was a kid, there were no particular traffic restrictions around most schools.

There were no fences, it was an open campus in high school. We could come and go as we pleased.

Today there are fences and metal detectors. And why?

We both know the answer to that. These were not preemptive moves.

Let's focus on things that need to be fixed. Not things that might go wrong, in an area that has never had a problem at all.

Agree 100%. There was nothing when I grew up. Hell, I even drank out of the hose and WALKED to school. My dad would have laughed if I asked for a ride. I'm a big fan of Darwin's law!!!!

Add me to the list of ppl in disagreement, I've heard you and the officers use this argument before and it's bogus- it's not at all the same. I could argue the opposite... If one old lady stood on mcCulloch and called the police 82 times complaining cars got too close to her they would move the old lady; but USFWS would close down the road to all cars. After the Topock jumper incident sRice suggested making swimming illegal... Why do you insist on closing everything and punishing everyone? Making swimming illegal on the river!? Why can't you or your agency cite/educate/punish the 1% and allow the rest of us to enjoy our country's beautiful resources? If you were to make the area no swimming you'd ruin the area to the vast majority and the 1% would still find a way to get up there to jump. In both examples, just as last year's closures, you've targeted and punished law abiding families while doing nothing to stop the 1% causing the issues.

Haha you said "educate" that's not something they are interested in. They can raise a lot more funds by mailing out petty citations
