Not too much to share as far as pictures go. Completed the low voltage wiring and just about the entire punch list. Monday I’ll be driving all over the place to pickup drywall. I’ve found some sheets on Facebook for $7-10 as opposed to $24 at HD. And with 320 sheets needed, it’s a substantial savings. What I didn’t realize is the total weight of drywall, it’s just over 35k lbs for what I need so I’ll need to take 3 trips to get it all. My wife is going to be so thrilled to help me unload it .

Had a guy come by today to quote the job. Pretty late in the day due to a hangover. Spitballed a price through his bloodshot eyes and asked for 50% upfront. That’s gonna be a hard pass. I did come across an extremely reasonable guy who I am super sold on but trying to pinch a few more pennies here. It’s the one time you miss that so cal benefit of finding cheap labor.

Wrapped up a big side job yesterday so come Tuesday I’ll be hanging drywall. Pics to follow.

It’s been a while but we are still making progress. Took on additional responsibilities at work that had me traveling a ton which really delayed progress.

Seemed like each bit of progress came with some setbacks but we are getting there.

Agenda this week - finish garage doors, grout shower, set fixtures, bathroom vanity install with counters and vessel sinks, kitchen countertop install less the island. Finishing painting trim and get doors hung.

Getting damn close. Passed our final inspection today but still a long way to go. Waited around for the inspector this AM then hit the road for work. Would much rather be moving in.

The whole gas process is a time consuming PITA. Start the process early! I waited until the last minute. The guy was real nice and got me in but my neighbor has been waiting for a while. Also, getting the gas line put in is entirely separate from the people that set the meter. The meter is a separate department/phone call.

The pavers come in on Thursday. We will see if they are as easy as they look. Stone facing comes on Friday. Did the same stone in the shower so I’m pretty comfortable with it but I’m not sure about the corners. I have some concerns if any of you experts want to chime in.

Most stone you can order corners. Don’t see pic of bathroom w stone so can’t say it avail or not.
Talk to Shane over at modern edge stone and tile. He knows about every stone out there.
Other option if it’s an interlocking stone with staggered joint. If real stone. You can stack a corner overlapping joints beyond corner.
After install cured, go back and cut the excess off the face. Then use stone hammer and knock the face of cut to make it look finished/natural

On other parts of the house, I have corners with tiny returns so I’ll end up with little 1” filler pieces. The stone hammer seems like a great idea. I was trying to figure out how to make a natural looking edge. My best guess was to score the backside and hope to carefully break it along the edge.

I have something similar to this for making corners. Works perfectly with split face travertine. Few Stones that are really hard. Have to hit on the backside with a grinder first.

2 examples of corners. If you look close you can see 2-3 stones then flip. Cut close to face stone, then hammer to texture or hit with grinder w sand disc to remove cut marks

Different stones take and hide cuts better. If your not confident doing, they likely make premade corner stones and you flip, but if stone isn’t tight you will see almost a brick pattern that your eye can almost follow as it goes across wall

We moved in early May. We still have some work to do but it’s a house of our own. I’m about a month from landscape completion so I’ll post some pics when it’s done. Lots of little stuff here and there but we are loving it! I had very much forgot about this thread but I’ll continue to post pics as we progress. Right now the landscaping is on hold until the guy behind us completes his retaining wall as his dirt is piled in our backyard.

All of the fans are fanimation. Living room is slinger v2. Beware the blades are plastic which I think is why so many people return them. I wa surprised especially for the price but I’m thinking it’s based more on function than cost savings. You can’t tell while they are running or even at ceiling level for that matter. Dead silent and they move air really great. Bought all our fans for half price or less on Facebook, probably from people that buy pallets. You won’t find in LHC FB but we slowly collected them during trips to so cal visiting family.

Last Saturday I started the stone veneer. Hoping to make much better progress this Saturday. Although a much cooler summer, I don’t have it in me to work long days in the sun this summer. I do 4-5 hrs in the morning and then tackle tasks in the shade or inside the house.

The pavers weren’t a ton of fun but overall not too bad. And with installing them myself, it was a substantial savings over concrete.
