Figured I would start a thread on my new to me boat. The 300T has always been a dream of mine to own. The lines of this boat are just plain......sexy.

At Halletts in Havasu one year, I told a buddy of mine that if I found one within a certain price range, I would by it. Well, last September, that asshole found this boat on FB Marketplace. Then he called me and told me to put my money where my mouth is. There is no bigger way to say FU to your shit talking friends than to pull the trigger and buy the boat.

So I did.

Then I realized I just bought a 300T. FUCK.

Funny story, when we test drove the boat, we needed fuel. So we towed it into a gas station. As we turned into the driveway to the station, I looked down and a beautiful new wheel and tire was rolling by the truck. I said, "Look at that. Some poor asshole lost a wheel off their trailer." Then realized that was us. Without skippin a beat, I told the seller that will be deducted from my offer.

Anyway, lemonade out of lemons or however the saying goes. I'm into it.

So I picked up this 1995 Hallett 300T. It was in Boulder City and in need of some love.

It's interior appointments include white interior vinyl with red, gray, and blue accents. The helm includes faded red (RDP pink) bezels and a Boyd Coddington style steering wheel. I literally was hearing some Van Halen jamming in my head while holding the steering wheel when I test drove. And I love Van Halen but that wheel has got to go. Hydraulic steering helps me to control the boat with ease. Of course the teak flooring is on par with Hallett styling. Down below was menstrual red cushions in typical 90's fashion.

All of that interior shit is going away. I will update the thread as work progresses. But for now, I'll keep you in suspense of what I'm doing.

The engines are twin single carb 525SC's matted to Bravo One's. I learned that this is basically a 454 with a blower. Boat ran great when I tested it. It did have a fuel leak from carb on the port motor, but that was due to sitting for so long in the desert heat that the gaskets dried out. When I got it back home, we did a compression test and found a dead cylinder. So we did a top end service, valve job, carb rebuild and all is good. Also serviced the other motor and both drives. So mechanically, we are good to go.

The boat's not perfect, but soon will be close to perfect for me.

Enjoy these first pics.......

Congratulations! I am excited to see what updates you do to it. The 300 is an absolutely awesome Havasu boat. With the molds "missing" there doesn't appear to be any new ones being built in the future.

Mine is a 94' that I believe we have talked about at Islander while enjoying some cold ones. I did an Arko interior with electric bolsters, Pfaff motors, Livorsi Dash & throttles, Isotta steering wheel, new teak floor, JL & Fusion stereo, and I'm sure a lot more that I'm forgetting lol.

I have seen what you did with your other two Halletts, so I already know this is going to be an interesting thread to follow. Thanks for sharing with us!

It’s about time you shared. Congrats. This is going to be one of the best Halletts on the lake.

Menstrual Red...😆...
A guy could call them Burgundy, but if ya don't like em, you described them perfectly! Good lookin boat, sounds like you have plans to make it a great lookin boat. I remember when it would've been "Dude, cool steering wheel", now, it's like, Hey, the 80s called, they want their steering wheel back! Looking forward to watching the transformation.

UPDATE

Well, Hallett's in Havasu is over. The big push to hit the water is done and the boat turned out awesome. It really works well and is functional for me and my family.

After I got it home, it went to GT Marine for a once over and maintenance. Turns out I had a dead cylinder on the port engine along with leaking fuel from the carb. So they immediately went to work and did a full top end service. The starboard motor was healthy, so we did the service and left it at that.

Once done, it sat as I drug my feet on the open bow conversion. In January, GT started by opening the bow and performing all the structural work. They glassed in new bulkheads, floors, filled the back hatch on the deck, then gel coated the top of the boat white. It came out factory clean.

At this point, it sat for a bit. Weather was challenging. Once all this work was completed, it went to Rene at Riverside Boat Upholstery for the interior work. To know Rene and his business.........he is a man of his word. He sticks to his schedule and will beat your expectation. His service is above all else, on point.

During this process, I quickly discovered this was my wife's boat.

As I was making decisions, she was there to override me. :) I wanted all white, as I've done before. She wanted some colors. She chose to pull the two gray/grey colors from the stripes and incorporate them into the seats. We also had Rene soften up the corners of the buckets as well as get rid of all piping. I can't stand piping. He built the entire open bow area, new headliner, new carpet, new benches in the cabin, new buckets, new rear bench, new hatch, and all new wall gunwhale and bulkhead panels.

I should note, during this process, I pulled the boat to have it pre-wired for the stereo and other accessories. I also took it to Dan at Ultimate Services for some trailer love and a heavy buff and detail. They did new bunks, LED lights, went through my brakes, all new races, all new bearings and grease. He also added a tool box for me. The trailer rode like new.

Here we are at Ultimate Services getting some trailer and detail love.......

I changed out the gauges and bezels. The steering wheel. And when in Havasu, the bezel around the controls (no picture). I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Got the cup holders in too, right before HIH. Also removed the hideous ladder on the swim step and added two ladders that mount under the swim step. Nothing says I love you, like pissing next to your chick at the same time while floating. LOL.

THINGS TO STILL DO........

1. Update cabinets.
2. Clean up motors and bilge area.
3. Change bow light to flip up LED.
4. Add another stereo remote on the transom.
5. Adding usb and usb-c chargers throughout. It was prewired for phone charging.
6. Making a new switch panel on the dash with billet switches.
7. Remove unused pitot tube from transom.
8. There is a few items I'm missing, but it will get done.

Such a beautiful boat and running next to you this weekend it looks amazing. The work that has been completed so far is top notch but knowing you that is just the start of a never completed project in your eyes.

Thank you sir. Let me know when you're in Havasu again. Let's fill her with some beer and go for a rip.

Thank you my guy. Still a lot to do. Daniel will be busy with my junk for sure. LOL. It's been a couple of years now, that we've hauled ass side by side and it's literally just us. I absolutely enjoy it. But this weekend, we took it easy. Didn't want to abuse the motors just yet.

We saw you guys pulling in to the sandbar this past weekend on Thursday and my wife looked at me and said "when our kids are grown up, that boat is the dream" and I've never been more in love with her before in my life. Did you end up selling the 270 or are you working on building an Armada?

When your wife loves the boat just as much, it puts the relationship into a whole different level. Mine could never give two shits about our previous boats. But when we bought the 270, I got her involved with making decisions on our build. Since then, the boats have become "hers" and I just get to drive them. LOL. So I understand how you feel.

As for the 270, we are fixing it up since the drive broke and my Son is going to buy it.

Whatever you do, don’t show the previous owner these photos. Nice work!

Funny story. I just was put into contact with the previous owner of the 270. They owned it for 25 years. Sent him a bunch of pics of the restoration and changes. When I hit send, I thought he would come back all pissed off that we made it an open bow. He actually was stoked and said that was exactly what the boat needed.

The 300 had changed so many hands, I don't think anyone would care.

The only pushback or comments I get is from the closed bow purists. But I don't give a shit. It's my boat and I did what I want. Edit: my wife's boat. :)

For that, I'm gonna do a 400T next. :p The flat deck version.

Yeah. Rick Howard and the Cabo Wabo. Billy B did the pinstriping on it. Bitchen boat with a cool history. Lot's of goodies.

And a kick ass open bow. 😂
