Some of the Ventura County inmates may remember a local horn/r&b band, Big Bad Voodo Daddy. A very good group, played every Sunday afternoon at the original Eric Ericsson’s. They once played the halftime show at the Super Bowl in 1999. They shared the bill with Stevie Wonder and Gloria Estefan. Talk about a local band making it good. IMO - Unlike yesterday, their performance appeared to be live and not over electronically produced. BTW - Back in the day, the Sunday clam chowder and cold beer were reasonable and excellent at Eric Ericson’s.

I'm pretty sure the plan for halftime shows has become.... "Who was popular 20 years ago and are they still making new music?" If the answer is no the later part then they are a perfect fit for the halftime show.

And if thats the case, they are missing the mark by not bringing in some Nu-metal. That will get the place going....

Admittedly, Usher and the skating segment was pretty impressive. Kudos to him for that.

This was probably my favorite commercial.

Half time show was just mediocre. Wasn’t great but wasn’t bad. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am in no way defending the NFL by them having Pop acts to perform the Halftime shows. But, that's kind of their demographic now. I would imagine it is very difficult to find acts that fit in just right and will do it without getting paid by the NFL. As much as I would like to see my own personal favorite bands perform I know that most people would not be into it.
