I launched my boat at the cop shop and was rolling up to the dock to pick up Stacy. Guy on a Jet Ski pulls up and says "I see your back from Florida!" I'm always down to bullshit and get to know a member.. Only problem is that dock is alumininum and I have to kinda drive by it and let Stacy jump on the engine hatch.. Water is choppy as shit and waves are pushing the boat towards the dock. Guy on stand up gets kind of in front of the boat so I back up and turn around and go for another pass. Well stand ups aren't easily managed either when they are idling so he ends up in front of me again (no big deal).. So I stop and back up again and Stacy gave him the '

"CAN YOU PLEASE MOVE"

In that Mom voice that makes ya just kinda shrink..

Guy was like "See ya later Dave" and just rode off. I'm looking at Stacy like "WTF was that really necesarry?"

Long story short, normally she's really nice but we've been dealing with a lot lately, and she's a little hot headed. In her defense the jet ski was making the dock program a lot more difficult then it should've been.. but I wasn't worried about it. The guy just wanted to say hello, and basically got yelled at for it.

Now I feel bad about it, so I want to send the guy a shirt or something and give it a second shot.

Easily 1000 more skis than on any other non-holiday Parker weekend. There was some really good riders, but a lot of them that looked clueless as well........ I had to get out of there .

It was a planned event on the strip. Kinda like at Desert Storm all the LAM ripping up and down the lake with no effs given.
I made it in and out of Pirates in my boat no problem. Sure was alot cooler seeing Mark Gomez doing a flip off my boat wake than some old dude ripping up and down the strip on a giant sit down [emoji16][emoji3]

I found out later it was some kinda poker run and jet ski trick event. They were running across the river at Pirates all day long. I had one come straight across the river at us in the boat on a collision course. I just slowed down he eventually saw me and snapped out of his trance and I'm pretty sure he mouthed the words "Oh shit!" when he finally did see us.. LOL

Overall it wasn't that bad. I have never felt the need to mother eff anybody (jet skiers etc..) I'm usually playing Jimmy Buffet or Bob Marley in the boat though so I'm pretty passive.

To make is clear I was the guy on the 1992 Kawasaki 550sx that came up on Dave and his wife. I did not see his wife was trying to get on board the boat when I pulled up until I got closer. Needless to say the water was really choppy and Dave did a excellent job keeping his cool. Believe me when it's choppy and I am loading the family on my Eliminator 250 eagle xp in choppy conditions the stress level certainly is raised. I figured there is always another day to say hello and shoot the shit than jeopardize the safety of loading people on board or have the boat get damage in those conditions. Please tell Stacy there is no hurt feelings on this side. I look forward to many more opportunities to meet up with you guys and buying you a beer. Until then stay safe enjoy the boating life that we all are lucky to have.

In the past, I believe the Run what you brung Poker Run was spearheaded by a Havasu firefighter and his wife that spend a lot of time at Pirate's Den in the summer. They raffle off a badass custom stand up ski, as well as a bunch of other cool prizes. If I remember correctly, 100% of the proceeds are donated to various childrens organizations in Havasu and Parker.

I didn't make it yet this year, but it really seems like it has grown pretty big. I wouldn't be surprised if Pirate's Den took over the logistics, as I think it would be a bit much for just one or two people to handle.
