Tyler and I flew out for Ian’s services. We are staying at Lake Lanier. Definitely coming for their poker run next year! Place is absolutely beautiful, and a nice change of pace.

@RiverDave the picture of the pizza under the freeway threw me off for a second. Had to triple take. I was like how the hell do these guys have a stainless pizza tray on the dash of a rental on the freeway going to town. 😂

Currently at Jody’s kids football game. By the way they take football of all ages seriously in GA. 😳

I don’t know if they have cheer leaders for little kids out west.. but these guys are fielding full teams etc.

The coaching staff from this age will be the same for all the kids up until they graduate college. Jody’s kids have three games today. We came to one.

We bought our last boat (Donzi) out of Lake Lanier. Had an opportunity to spend some time on the water while there checking it out. Really a nice lake.

Atlanta on the other hand (where I stayed) was a shit hole.

If Florida wasn't our final home, GA would be it.

You do realize you are in the southeast don't you?
My home state of TN didn't have a professional team until the oilers moved to Nashville and even then they were almost rejected by fans...that was untill they almost won the Super Bowl their first year loosing on the 3 yard line in the 4th.
Yes they take their sports very seriously.

Yes, most youth teams in our league (GCYFL) are fielding 20-22 player teams with cheerleaders, our team is fielding multiple teams in each age group, 3 age groups have 3 teams, there are other teams with multiple teams in each age group as well

Dave, you gotta go to Margariraville and see the campgrounds right on the lake. One of the nicest RV parks in the country

Lived in Atl for a couple years. (Actually heading back Monday for the week). Fall in the South is as good as it gets. Perfect temps, fall colors, minimal pollen. it’s pretty awesome. People are nicer than anywhere I’ve lived.
November to Feb are a bit colder than i like. There’s a reason spring break is a big deal. It’s time to thaw out.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Atlanta - I never felt comfortable there.

Atlanta and Minneapolis are the two cities I dislike the most of all the places I’ve been.

I know there are plenty of things to like but in the end - it’s clear to me, I’m not at all liking it when I’m there.

We spent 8 days in No. Georgia this summer for my sons baseball. Loved the people, great food, and at first I thought the trees were really cool. After about 5 days of never seeing the horizon it started getting to me, my son even made mention that people there have probably never seen a sunrise or sunset.

I found Tennessee to be the same way, with rolling hills and huge trees, you never see the horizon. I also have no idea where I’m at because there’s no reference points to look at.

Twin cities pizza.. pretty cool place! Weirdly it isn’t on the “one bite” app (bar stool sports)

One of my brothers grandsons plays high-school and travel ball back there. The pictures he sends me of the fields where they play are pretty amazing. They're in Dawsonville, just off of Lake Lanier

Baseball and Football in the South is literally church. I’m in Atlanta often and it’s definitely unique. Some amazing areas but they’re nowhere near the inner city. You have to get away from the city itself to see true Georgia.

Atlanta is very proud of its heritage. It was almost burnt to oblivion but survived and thrived. A lot of the “Old South” continues to exist.

From those first pics Dave posted, it looks exactly like DTLA to me.

Poor Dave is so excited to be out of the middle of the desert, he's posting pics of a hotel! 😜

The suburbs look a lot better. 👍🏼

HS football in texas.....hence texas property taxes!
Yep, get out of left controlled states and you can have nice things again. Just a bit north of Allen and our HS stadiums are over the top.

… My sister lives in a three-story home in Marietta Georgia just outside of Atlanta… In truth it is worth less money than my thousand square foot somewhat average home in North Hollywood???…

I remember when they finished that....remember checking it out during a grad ceremony there....in the next year it was shutdown for two years while they made repairs....cut corners during building and had concrete falling from places it should not.... That was a bummer such a huge investment to go wasted...definitely took the shine off the facility...

I get what you’re saying, when I travel back west, I love the long range views. But the sunrise/sunsets around here are still pretty good.

No. Biggest myth I’ve heard. Ive been to Lanier, Hartwell, Allatoona, Murray…no gators. Very clear, clean, warm lakes.
We were 15mins from Allatoona. Pretty cool lake. Tons of fingers to duck into and enjoy water sports.

The corona chargers program is similar. Same coaches up to high school.

Carlsbad Pop-Warner football is the same. Same coaches until HS. I don’t see coaches following kids through college graduation. The money HS pay for football coaches today is getting insane, college gets another comma in the figures. A few position coaches/trainers will work with kids from elementary all the way up through HS, but those parents are spending $$$$ in hopes of a college scholarship IMO.
