In the early 1990's there was a micro brew that became popular. Pete's Wicked Ale. It got bought by a bigger brewer and they killed the brand all together. Sort of miss it!

Yea that’s the thing about ipa’s not everyone likes the same thing. Another one of my favorites is therapist from Dustbowl brewery. Are you a IPA drinker?

I don't know that I would call it a "great" beer but Trader Joe's is selling a Mission St. Double IPA in a 32 oz. can for $3.99. It is a straightforward IPA that is hard to beat for the money.

I enjoy all spectrums of beer! From Miller Lite to a hearty stout. Couple buddies and I do a yearly brewery crawl in some random state for a weekend. Can't say I have a favorite though. It may sound weird but right now I'm seriously enjoying the Corona Familiars.

Corona just came out with a new beer, I haven't yet had it.

Best "Bang" for your buck there... I think it's like 8 or 9% too

I found this at a local gas station of all places... Great pilsner that has a little punch.

I’ve seen them popping up. But it’s only one can at a time.

IPA's have created what me and my friends refer to as 'The Hop Wars', it's like a race to see who can brew the hoppiest most blow your face off dry/bitter tasting beer (and Dry/Bitters are my favorite style of beer). It's killed the IPA genre for me, there are some great IPA's that are balanced, but they are harder and harder to find, i think a lot of brewers over hop the beers to mask the underlying fact that their beer isn't all that great, but never fear, you'll never be able to taste that cause all you are gonna get is pine tar.

Couple of great balanced beers:

I need to make a pilgrimage there , how many Pliny’s will they sell you to go ?

I'm not sure, at the bar they pretty much gave me whatever I asked for to go. Can you believe that Pliny is only 4 bucks a pint on happy hour? damn.. I only have two left, need to get up to San Jose for a beer run.

IPA was created for puddle pirates that didn’t have refrigeration.

And those puddle pirates were lost at sea. Not a role model for anything including suds.

The "I" in IPA is for India. When the empire went over there and set up shop they needed beer. Hops is a natural preservative so they hopped up their brew for the long ride and the IPA was born.

IPA's have ruined me for other beer, I'm one of those that seeks out the hugely hopped doubles and triples.

...and someone above posted about a pilgrimage to obtain Pliny, they usually have it on tap at Najas. My wife gets it every time we go.
