Opinionated... check. Asshole... check. Not overly proud of either, but that's who I am.

I personally think more people could dig in their heels about more things more often. I think it would make the world a better place.

One thing you will find about my opinion though, is it can be swayed with logic and experience. I am very willing to admit when I find that I am wrong. VERY willing. It is the rare person that is able to drag me off of a committed path though without convincing me otherwise.

I am very aware that this thread has backfired. Actually, my stance on the subject has backfired. I look like a bigger asshole than I am, and in the higher altitude view of it I am still 100% correct. Down here on the ground though, the tactics aren't working and I'm getting creamed.

Back to the best thing I learned in training. If you are the only one right... you're wrong. I know I'm not the only person who feels the way I do about grammar, and I know I'm not the only one judging people on it. What I do know is that I'm the only idiot to take a stand on it... and arguing with someone that has piss poor grammar about its merits is like mud wrestling with a pig. You end up filthy and the pig loves it.

The changing the line of thought with logic part.. Lol.. C'mon now Wes.. :D

Dual jet?
Baby rant?

There's so many examples my head is swimming.. I would wager in your history of posting on boards that I am on which goes 13-14 years now I have never seen that once..
No sir..

Hey Wes,is gonna a real word?

While I'm here I have a suggestion:)

Maybe you should open a Craigslist add offering free apostrophes👍

You will assimilate Wes. This thread was a good way to say you tried to make a difference however. Now that you've been beaten into submission, you can move to the next phase of your plan and start to post like an uneducated hillbilly. Bravo my friend.

True story.. Texted a mfg the other day and said. "How much is this pkg". Except it autocorrects to pig every time..

Didn't catch it till later.. They were not impressed.

From a "feeling" perspective, I live in San Diego which has traditionally great weather. I enjoy cruising with the top down.

From a pure utility perspective, the visibility is far improved in a convertible, so parking, driving and throwing stuff in the back seat is much easier. Surfboard fits in the car too, which it wouldn't if it was a coupe.

Aesthetically, unlike a boat, the lines of a convertible with the top down are much nicer than the sedan in many cases. The car is sleeker, less bulky and more streamlined. On a classic muscle car, this is a debatable opinion, but nobody has ever argued that the open bow variant looked nicer than the closed bow on a boat. Plus, as they are more rare and desirable, it makes it even that much nicer to have a cool one.

Plus, I find all that glass and metal over my head a safety hazard. I want to get flung from the car in the event of an accident. ;)

I disagree with the visibility part if the top is up, as well as the being flung part.
Statistically that is not what you want for survival.
But I should tell you in fairness, our Vette is a convertible, my 69 Malibu was a convertible, my 64 sprint was a convertible, my 63 Futura was not.
I will only own convertibles when it comes to classics and Corvettes.
My Vette buddies scorn them, but we ( Deb and I) love the notchback look of the Vette convert.
And as you already know there is nothing like a classic chevelle with the top down.
I've only owned one open bow, a Glastron. And doubt I will own another.
BUT, having owned one, I can completely understand the practical benefits.
The point?
Just because you don't like them doesn't make them wrong.
There is a well known poster who's open bow truckster will handily put away most of the boats on this forum....AND it is a jet.

You are hardcore. I get that.
My dad was hard core. He did hardcore shit just like you did.
He mellowed in his later years and really had some insights about tolerance and what is important.
There is right, and there is wrong, with little middle ground, to a person with a hardcore, disciplined history.
Believe it or not, I get accused of the same intolerance in my house.
But there comes a time in life where you can benefit from letting go just a little and saying:
" I never did mind the little things".

There is knowledge, and there is knowledge.

You don't have to defeat someone, crush them, insult them, and add them to the body count to advance an opinion.
It isn't clearing and securing a LZ or DZ, after all.
It may seem strange to hear this coming from a poster that is labeled angry and argumentative, but there is only a couple of you guys that think that. I could spend a day right in front of you and you would never know who I was. Guaranteed.

Not because I would be fake, but because you wouldn't be grading my paper.

If I knew a manufacturer was like that, I would not deal with them unless I absolutely had to. If they can't cope with an honest mistake, they don't know how to do business.

Instead of pkg, I'll bet that had if you typed pack, auto spell would have offered you 'package'. One click to select the proper word...

It was a joke. Hence the "rare by Froggy" winky guy.... And in any case, who would put the top up? I almost pulled mine all the way out, but the parade boot looked stupid so I left it. Without a top, Momma can't make me put it up.

Fair and fair... but you can't make me want one. I'm boat shopping right now, and I really only have two firm criteria... no open bows, and no outboards. Not to say either of them aren't perfect for what someone may need... (and I will own an outboard utility boat before too long here for total disclosure) but I sure as fuck won't think I look cool in it.

Today has been an eye opener. I'm not gonna say I lost... but I have been convinced to take a different course of action. I doubt spelling errors will effect my mental health any less... I'm just going to be less vocal about how much damage it does to my soul.

More than likely. You would probably know who I was though. :D I'm pretty much exactly the same in real life.

I wasn't going to jump in here but what the heck, right?
I spent a big chunk of my career in a supervisory/training role, which means I spent hours upon endless hours, "grading papers" or clearing police reports. My role was to make sure the elements of the crime were documented, that the statements provided by the witnesses were complete and factual, and that the probable cause for the arrest was clearly recorded.
I was most critical of crappy reports.
Once my name was attached to that report and I signed the complaint form to send it to the DA as far as I was concerned I owned the report.
You only need to get your ass handed to you one time by a good defense attorney shredding your poorly written, poorly assembled and incomplete report to begin to understand why the troops didn't bitch when I sent their shiznit back to them with an, "Aw shit" note attached.
Once you get to where you read like that you find yourself with a new habit, one that is hard to break. I haven't broken it. I still read with a critical eye, so yes...I do see some poor grammar here. It bugs me sometimes, but I am no longer tasked with making the DA happy, and no one here works for me.
And this is another place.
This is a message board; a place where people gather to "talk", to share ideas about the things that are going on in our lives, to yak about boats, hot rods, kids, guns, and whatever else interests us.
Not all of us have ever been in a position to have to be very critical about the written word.
We have varying degrees of skill as writers, just like every other area we talk about.
Sometimes we talk about the very serious and very difficult things that all of us who share the human condition face at one time in our lives or another. I would hate to think that anyone here would ever feel any reluctance to share their thoughts with us because they were concerned about substandard grammar.
Just my opinion.

I'm the same also, but you would not have a predisposed opinion if I did not identify myself.
When that day comes, I'll buy you a beer if you know it is me!

...yes indeed,...all the i's being dotted and the t's being crossed in points of legality are an absolute must...in addition,...grammer and or tense can make or break a case...

...depending on the topic,..on a boating forum,..doesnt seem to be an all encompasing requisite???...

...personally,...I would rather see a little creativity in a persons writing and some witty articulation than spot
on grammer...

...some of the brightest people I have known have been dyslexic,...couldnt write worth a shit but could easily outsmart the majority....

Holy Crap, 24 pages today. What's so interesting? So you like to have people spell and compose properly. I get the idea, though feel an internet forum mostly about boats, booze, and broads may not necessarily be the best place to look for divine wisdom is prose. Just my .02.

Maybe Froggy should start a new company called Trident Custom Grammar Infusion? He'll reduce 90% of your grammar mistakes while doubling your posting speed.

Warning: Side effects may include involuntary schizophrenia with narcissistic rage over the dumbest crap on the interwebs.

Daffy duck was talking to Mickey Mouse and said "I heard you and Minnie were breaking up because she is crazy?" Mickey said "No!, we're breaking up because she's fucking Goofy!"
