nope his dad shouldve kept his mouth shut. it WAS a one on one fight. very manly. then his dad got his ass beat and so the son has to step in and make things "fair."

Maybe some reading comprehension is in order here.......if you read his post it clearly says
" Another guy jumps in and kicks my Dad in the face and gives him a few stomps as well."

But what the hell do i know.

My whole point was sometimes you have to fight, niot just sue for a new boat.

Fair enough. If somebody attacks you, it's time to do the best you can. That has nothing to do with the law or the police.

This thread describes a physical assault. He saw a guy he his dad had some history with and he attacked him. That's a different thing entirely, IMO.

That's one view.

I suppose that's a point of view, albeit a totally moronic one.

Gather around, kids. It's story time.

My lake house is in a rather quiet and sedate area. When the window is open, you can hear birds flapping their wings a hundred feet away. It's amazing. Other than the noise of children playing around in the or in the park, pretty tranquil.

Two seasons ago, along came a group of kids who like to party. I think the parents died and they took over the place. They were blasting music all night and we could hear them yelling around their campfires, etc. The RCMP were called a few times but nothing happened.

A couple of people from the lakefront group went back to talk to them about it. Long story short, the discussion didn't go all that well. These trash talking rednecks basically said they were never going to stop, we couldn't make them, and that they would kick the ass of anyone who tried.

Now... out lake area is pretty nice. Even just an empty lot on the water goes for what a pretty decent house and lot would go for in town. Needless to say, the place is full of doctors, lawyers, a very few impoverished people like myself, and even a couple of judges.

There was a brief meeting and the meekest little guy said he would take care of it. When the judge next door nodded and said, "good", I knew the right ball was in motion. It turns out, this little guy is a lawyer who is dieing of cancer and hasn't practiced law in a couple of years but still owns half of one of the most prestigious law firms in town.

This little guy took care of it. They went from ripping up the grass in the park with their quads and threatening to beat the shit out of anyone who said anything to them again to being gone from the area.

That was two years ago. That cottage is vacant now. It's now owned by my neighbor who is a mechanical systems contractor. He has no plans for the place, he just doesn't want anyone moving in there so he bought it a few of months ago.

Let's review.

1) A group of us go over with pitchforks and axes, call them out, and duke it out.

2) We collect some video evidence, work within the system, put one in jail, decimate them financially with a few costly legal challenges, and have a provincial justice reprimand the local detachment of the RCMP for not enforcing the laws. If anyone from that group comes around, we have a cell phone number we can call and have them arrested for even showing up.

Tell us, tough guy, which approach do you suppose took care of the problem the most effectively?
Well Tom in that instance the legal route worked just fine.
Here's another instance, and what I did, what would you have done here?

When I was 22,my future wife and myself were at a Red Onion in the OC,I had gone to the restroom, and Kim was at the cigarette vending machine getting me a pack of smokes. She had a small hole on her jeans about the size of a silver dollar just under her ass cheek. As I exited the restroom I see this guy walk up behind her and stick his finger in it!
She spun around and socked the guy in the arm and started telling him off.
Shocked a little I guess by being hit by a chick and drunk as hell,he drew back to punch her, seriously.

Gelcoater would and did grab the guy by the face and neck and start pushing the pos away from the girl and commence with a beat down, until the bouncers showed up and broke thing up.

In that instance I guess Tom or Kayotic would just call their lawyers and let their chick get punched in the face?

I have had a couple more experiences where there is no time to call the cops and wait for them to solve the situation and action is required right there and then,no lawyer or cop was going to change what was about to happen.

There's your problem right there. You should always make sure to keep a lawyer dying of cancer (and a couple of judges) at your side at all times and the RCMP on speed dial.;)

Im not playing tough guy here. You took my qoute completly out of context. Your situation called for legal action 100%. They were not beating up a family member. My whole point was sometimes you have to fight, niot just sue for a new boat. Please compare apples to apples Tom.

Instead of an x-ray during his annual physical, his doctor places a piece of plain white paper over his neck and sprinkles on some iron filings. He can tell the condition of Brian's neck from the pattern in the filings.

I wonder if byran has to steer clear of recycle plants. I mean it has to be eye opening when you walking and all of a sudden get sucked up to one of those giant magnents.

When Brian passes, his wife will probably have his neck bling smelted into a lovely broach.

I am not going to throw my opinion out there on the matter. Suffice to say that I believe in both forms of justice, and there are occasions when one form is better than the other.

But to those who are training their kids in martial arts, MMA, have any kind of self defense training, or were a high school wrestler...I have a tale for you. A number of years back my wife and I and a bunch of friends went out one night for some fun, and we ran into a douchenozzle that decided he wasn't going to end the night without getting into a fight. A very good friend of mine was a decent wrestler all the way through college, and he tried on a number occasions to get this guy to just have another beer and enjoy the evening. Well a couple of hours later douchenozzle decided to try and break a beer bottle over my friends head. He missed, and my friend didn't. My buddy slammed him to the floor and f*cked his shoulder up bad in the process. You could hear the tearing and the dislocation "POP" of his shoulder, and see his face explode as he hit the floor when my buddy threw him down.

Everything seemed good at the time, the bouncers told the cops he had been trying to pick fight all night, and that my buddy acted in self defense. Cool, we stay, he goes to the hospital. A month later, my buddy is in court, answering to a lawsuit because he had "specialized skills" that lead to the extensive injuries that douchenozzle received. Ultimately my friend did not go to jail, but it cost him a lot of money to defend himslef against doucehnozzles claims.

The moral to the story: If you got skillz, and you use them in a fight, you could end up going to jail instead of the idiot you are fighting. My friend told me the judge told him the reason that he did not send him to jail or find him liable is because it was not a protracted altercation, but an immediate reaction to a threat of bodily harm.

Pretty much common knowledge if your in any martial art. Outside of the dojo, its ONLY used for self defense!

My son told awhile back...

He used to Always want to kick a couple guys asses in school, and now, the just laughs at those guys! Knowing you can, is all you need sometimes. :thumbsup

Long story short. There are people on here that know my dad. They also know the story of what happen 2 years back. I knew they would be happy to know that the situation it is over and done with......so I made the post.

Two old guys going at it. Much younger guy jumps in and kicks my dad. The younger guy does a disappearing act and showed back up the other day. I happen to be there when he did. Not a planned thing at all. We were there and everyone in the place knew what was going to happen.

I don't like fighting and either does my dad.......but sometimes it happens.

Years ago out of nowhere some fella for no reason was giving my wife a wrath-of-sh!t. From a distance I saw this happen. I turned to her and asked what to do? Her reply: "As your attorney, kick the sh!t outa him".

I'm no tough guy, but I guess it was okay because I consulted console first?

I guess I should have asked for a DCB as well...
