I was sitting around a few beers deep last night, got a wild hair, started looking at hotel rooms and booked the Super 8 for 2 nights. So while mom is in Florida, my 2 boys and I will be coming to Desert Storm!!

Heading out with the boat in tow EARLY Thursday morning and hope to be in town by 9am. First time ever coming to DS and am stoked!

Going to get up at 6am to launch at Windsor on Friday and hit Springs for breakfast before the raft up. See you all there! :D

I was already showing my 4 year old the pictures from last year and he had a shit eating grin on his face. They are going to be so stoked, as am I!

Please be careful Joe, not the easiest of places, for newcomers with small children. :)

Will be extra careful for sure. I was thinking an early launch at Windsor would be good to avoid the crowds, only thing that is worrisome is getting out at the end of the day. I really don't know what to expect!

I got it pretty much down to a science (launching and retrieving on my own) and the boys are well behaved. I was even thinking about towing down to Cattail and launching, but that would kind of be a waste since we are so close to Windsor.

By thursday there will be a ton of members in town, someone will be available to help.

I launch at Windsor. It will be crowded but if I'm there the same time as you I'd be happy to help out.

Would it make sense to roll South to launch? We are rolling off early Friday morning from Take Off Point... Parker Dam. I cannot imagine this being too busy that early. If Windsor will be busy, take the 30 min drive down and launch with us :thumbsup We'll help you.

My original intention was to launch at Cattail, probably going to stick with that plan.....kind of works out well because I can stop by Basha's on the way to grab food for the kids.

Joe, want to meet at Springs for something to eat Friday morning?

Yes!

Not sure which DS thread it was, but there are group meeting there around or 8 or so. I think we are launching around 7:00. That will give us plenty of time to get some breakfast, blood marys and get to the Raft Up spot.

Sounds good. See you there! Haven't been following anything since we weren't planning on going.

Me either until a couple of weeks ago :)

We'll down in Parker for the weekend, so if you want to come down and show your boys The Strip on Saturday, there will be several other inmates around too.

Taking my 8 & 11 year old also this year for the first time also. As I get older and see them grow before my eyes, I want to share as many memories and fun times with them while I can. I am sure it'll still be a good time.

On a side note, I had booked (2) rooms at the Hidden Palms but my buddy can't make it after all because of his Daughters Prom that weekend. Its an older place, nothing fancy but has Boat parking very close to keep an eye on it and a pool for the kids right outside your door steps. It's a King Suite with a full on Kitchen, small living room and Fold out Sofa Bed if you are interested in it. I believe they are $109/night plus tax. Just putting it out there or for anybody else incase everything else is booked up.

I might just do that, although kinda wanted to check out the shootout....plan on heading home Saturday night so maybe Parker will be better on Saturday for us.

If you get into town earlier enough on Thurs. you may be able to get a slip at the Marina for a couple nights. That will solve your launching problem. I know Yopengo has done this in the past.

I was already planning on trying, but wasn't too optimistic. They open at 8am and I should be rolling into town around 9 so going to call over there when we get to town and if they have any available, then we will go that route instead of dragging boat all the way to Cattail. I wanted to go out on the lake for a few hours on Thursday anyway so crossing my fingers that they have something.

I think they have more slips for smaller boats. You will need your registartion. Good Luck. :thumbsup

If you need a second set of hands I'll have the boat in the water early AM Friday we launch at nautical. Me and my crew could run over to Windsor in the boat and help you throw the trailer in real quick.

If you just need a hand with the launching and retrieving

Thanks man, appreciate it! I am pretty freaking good at it so I think we will be fine. Most likely going to head to Cattail.

Don't let the bed bugs bite.

I read the reviews and nobody made mention of it. There were bed bugs in our room at the Aquarius last year so it can happen anywhere. We will not be spending a lot of time in the room so its all good.

You taking the boat? I might have room for you if need be

Yeah, I got the boys so don't want to drag all their stuff onto someone else's ride. Thanks for offering though, I will see you there!!

Jeezus Joe, make up your mind.

Hahaha.....I know....right?!

Joe, I will have my son and some friends that are boat owners and we would be happy to help you retrieve your boat.

Thanks Tim, appreciate it. I think we got it covered, like I said.........this is basically what I do every time we go out so got it down pretty solid. Launching at Cattail makes me feel better so I don't have to worry about crowds and idiots at the Havasu ramps. Plus down south it is always a little more mellow.

Are you taking the boys to the raft up? I've been debating leaving my girls with the in-laws or dragging them along.

Why not try and get a slip to make it super easy on you?
If not I will have a big crew that should be able to help you out.

I am going to try as I will be in town pretty early on Thursday. That will be the best case scenario. If I can't get a slip then we are going to tow to Cattail and I can handle it on my own. Appreciate everyone offering to help out though, that is righteous!! See you there!
