Being out of town with some down time, I caught up to these pics of the full cap finishing up. Very time consuming. Looks good. I am looking forward to seeing it up close next week when I get back into town.

Haven't asked about the price. Going with Merc power, 560 or 565 I think??? Cap has turned out great! Waiting on some hardware and they are starting to build interior now. I'll try to get some more progress pics next week.

Sounds like a good plan, maybe I should bring lunch :)

Looking at a deck boat / walk through cat now myself.

Couple questions I don't see a vacuum bag shot. Is this boat bagged? Is it a vinylester boat?

The step looks a little short at least in the picts I see here but they could be misleading . Is there a better pict of the step?

Speaking of steps is it a 25 ft boat with a 2 (1.5) ft step? how big is the "boat only" part of the rig?

How much of the interior is inserted VS "built in" if that question makes sense.
It looks like there are some big holes that need to be filled but I can't see enough of the inside of the mold to actually tell

Whats it weigh unrigged and rigged with a BBC and a bravo w/steering or an ITS. Im wondering if the detailing on the back of the transom will make fitment of external steering easier or more difficult, visually the detailing is a nice touch.

Thanks!

The dates of the open house haven't been determined just yet. The plan is the this new Python will be highlighted boat. Cobra has a couple other new builds in progress, (like CoolCruzin's 26!!!) and a 26 Venom C, plus several well cared for used boats, from a 21 to a 32.

Dave,
I know Cam will be getting some more detailed answers, but I'll try to answer some for you now.
The running surface is 26, the swim step puts it slightly over 27'. The hull is based on the 26 Venom, which has proved to be a good running efficient hull.
It is a "traditional" layup. I'm not 100% on the materials or the layup schedule.
The interior is about 90% molded, with very little left to be built in. The idea was to make a boat with really 2 molds, hull and deck/interior, making the boat simpler to build, and in the long run a stronger boat.
Not sure what the target weight is, but as it comes along we can get you that info. the detailing on the transom was measured out to not interfere with hydraulic steering, and will give a recess inside the engine compartment to run hidden rigging.

I got a lil off track this week and didn't make it out to visit the shop to get details. This is good info, thanks Havaduner :)

Uncle Dave, I hope you find this helpful. Feel free to contact Cobra for more details.

the boat is vinylester.
I think the photos of the steps are indeed misleading in the iphone pictures.
I dont have any better pics as of right now. you might be able to see the steps better if you take a close look at the pictures of the boat plug when crane is flipping it over.
As Matt (Havaduner) made mention, the hull is from the 260 Venom Cat, its a proven hull and I can remember being in it at 120mph with TCM1000, the 260 venom can be found in the pages of the old hot boat mags.
So, I think Cobra's intent was to make it like thier previous decks with one deck mold, not a bunch of inserts. This keeps the boat true and solid, built for longevity in my opinion for sure with less to fall apart, separate or rattle and shake.
Not sure what holes you are seeing that need to filled, I might think that you are seeing cut outs for storage under seats.
Unsure of weight rigged or even unrigged, however it is estimated to be just under 5k lbs.
Your thought of the transom was the first thing that went through my mind when I first saw the plug being built, its very unique. When I asked the same question, I was assured that it would not hinder external steering.

I stopped by Cobra yesterday for a quick question and saw this 270 beauty firsthand, I was in total awe! Wish I had known about this thread, I would have snapped some pics for you guys.:yikes

On a side note, there was a 21' Ultra on the sales floor that was very clean, if anyone interested.

Dave sell your boat to vicious' dad then buy a new one. If I'm getting a new truck you need a new boat...with at least a 525!

Boat looks good...can't wait to see it in the water.

Not sure what I think about the speaker instalation...strange placement as opposed to being in side panels.

The initial water test went great! Early morning flat water at Elsinore was just shy of 90 so a little chop should get it to 90. I am familiar with that hull, it is efficient, the boat can handle more power if a customer wants it.

Owner is very happy, first weekend went great, and so did the second and the third!! I believe PB did a photo shoot with the boat last weekend, so I am sure a full write up in the mag will be coming. Boat has a few little odds and ends that were holding up finishing the boat completely but the new owner said they could wait, he was going boating!! I am sure he is stoked!

Also, was told that 565 runs and sounds great! Digital throttle control provides instant throttle response!
