Just got back from Havasu been there since Thursday.. Looks like I got hit with swimmers itch pretty good.. First day we spent most of the day up in the george then a few hours in the channel, didnt notice anything. Second day spent all day in the channel. 10am till about 7pm, noticed it that night and next morning. Got it the worst under my shorts and under my swim shirt.. Wife who was with me every where we went has nothing..

I had to look this thing up. Never heard of it.

I can't even imagine how polluted the channel is. Seriously. You think about the southbay and stuff that is very dynamic, shifting body of water and how high the bacteria levels can get even there. Now think of the channel with it's nearly stagnant, hot water that has thousands of people soaking in it all day. I bet the levels of contamination are off the charts.

I stopped standing in the channel years ago. I would never swim, just stand. But a couple times I got the red itch on my legs. Then when the brain eating virus made its rounds, that was it for me. North of the bridge for me. Need some circulation.

Problem with that is the natural flow of water is in the south and out the north

I got it once from Ivans Pond in ST. George Utah. The bad thing is I had to drive to Denver the next morning. I thought I would go crazy during that drive. Once in Denver I called a DR. in Utah. He said put "Absorbing Junior" over the affected areas. I did and the itch stopped but I had big red welts on my legs for a few days. I do not go in the water in Utah anymore.
