We used to love Hunter steakhouse when in that area but it looks like it is permanently closed. :( Sorry I can be of no help.

Brigantine on Harbor Drive is nice, right on the water. Ruth Chris is across the street.
World Famous in Pacific Beah is right on the ocean & laid back. Great burgers & breakfasts

Lots of good places in the gas lamp district but I haven’t been back in so long I have no idea what they are. Drive around and look for the popular ones.

But be ready to step over bodies... gone to shit. My gal lives in one of the high rises and cant even walk out to street anymore. drives up from underground garage and goes jogging elsewhere.

If you end up staying at Seaworld over dinner time, the barbecue at Seaworld has been surprisingly good when we have visited. Not sure if it is still around.

My 13-year old daughter and I are going to San Diego in a couple of weeks. Any ideas of what to do are welcome.

Sadly, we stopped visiting Seaworld - after reading up a bit on dolphins and killer whales (orcas), I realized that what they do to the animals really is quite disgusting. The Cultural Lives of Whales and Dolphins is a good book. Complete with Amazon link: https://a.co/d/0y9Ym4f

I thought their food was average at best, but damn, those Mai Tais!!! Spicy
This ^. Bali Hai is great for cocktails but food is so-so. We tie up there for booze cruises but seldom eat there. On the Shelter Island access is a little restaurant called Ketch across the street from the Brig. Good food and good cocktails with an excellent view. You can walk and 1/8 of a mile from there and go to Eppig brewery for some good beer and more excellent views of the city.

Yup. Owners are local and nice folks. My wife went to grade school with them and our kids all ended up in the same grade school together years later. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
