I have been wanting a new 2500HD but between the cost of new trucks and the interest rates I just can't justify it. Prices and monthly payments have just gotten ridiculous.

I know most RDP ballers pay cash but some of us peasants don't have 90k laying around to throw at a depreciating asset. Looking like I will hang onto my 2018 and run it in the ground.

Just got a yukon AT4 through Jay at Costa Mesa GMC.

The problem is inventory now. They are marking up everything.

Your best bet is to have a credit union quote it and have the dealer beat it. It’s amazing how the rates change when you have a better offer lol.

I would let them dig themselves into the hole… “Best we can do” “You won’t find it lower” “This is hands down the best deal”.

Then pull the approval form from my credit union out of my back pocket.

😂

Its ugly out there right now. Unless its a special incentive deal right around 6.5% is about as good as it gets and that's with a CU. Dealers will be that ++

What year are you looking for, 23 or24? As that matters right now too.

In late August school first was 5.8 something while Chase gave 6.0 something for a 24, 2500 GMC HD but that 6.0 was a fight to get as they started higher.

Well, when people stop paying these ridiculous prices, maybe they will force the prices to come back down to something reasonable. $1300 a month for a new vehicle?? That's asinine. GTFO with that nonsense. I'll go be poor somewhere else.

The prices aren’t going anywhere unfortunately.

Go ahead and take 10k off the sticker. That changes the monthly what? $100?

Might feel crazy, but I’m sure there’s a guy in his 90s talking about the truck he paid $7,500 for 🤣.

This. Buy the base work truck for 45k and drive it. It’s better than your 25 year old truck in every way.

100%

Which looks like I’m buying that again…. Lol.

I wanna go full tilt but an XLT Ford (or other big 3 equivalent) gives me everything I need. All I need is a full dash, good motor and good transmission.

Yep, and I will not be buying or moving anytime soon either. My house has doubled in value since I bought 7 years ago, but so has all of them. I will stay in this house and drive my old shit until we retire.
Lol I wasn’t trying to be a dick. Just stating that the cost of living has 2-10x.

Never any offense taken. I can not grasp the idea of paying that much a month for a vehicle or a boat. Don't get me wrong, I like new shit. I remember hearing my father, and his father saying "that costs more than my first house".

My "Old" truck (2004) is hands down my favorite vehicle. It isn't like every other truck on the road and brings me joy when I drive it. It's paid for, runs like a scalded dog, hauls ass, is easy to work on whenever something comes up, and doesn't cost much in insurance or registration. There is no reason to step into a $50K replacement "Just because." I'll keep this as long as I can and enjoy it. 👍

With GM, it depends on what vehicle you are looking at.

Different offers on different vehicles.

Do your self a favor and apply for the GM credit card and use it to also put down a portion of the down payment. You will rack up so many points, you can use the points to make a few payments.

I don’t think vehicle prices will come down much.
They won't.

You will see deals on Dodge and Chevy's but I had a long conversation with one of my clients that is a commercial fleet guy for Ford . (has his own team and sells a cubic crap ton to gigantic companies 100's at a time) and he basically said they are eliminating most of the crazy ordering sheets and everything is getting simple. You want leather you get lariat. you want more you go platinum. He said they are going to have much less sitting around like Toyota as they no longer want the high shelving costs and they don't want to devalue the product like they have done in years past.

Cool! Makes me feel a little better about paying way too much money for my 1/2 ton truck lol

My Dad used to tell me 'If you can't afford a Cadillac, Stay out of the Cadillac Showroom" The Smell, Doors Closing Sound, etc. because the experience will have you wanting one, and the Salesman will try and catch you at a weak moment, and get you to sign the paperwork.

For at least the foreseeable future, Auto mfg’s will have the better rates for certain models. My credit union is 7.40% to 7.60%, depending on term. 96 mos is 8.5%.

I see a lot of new $100k SUV’s in our town. Must be a lot of RDP’ers here that pay cash 🤣

For those wanting prices to come down, don’t forget the UAW strike hasn’t even impacted inventory yet.

I think the car market is going to have big issues. I know a lot of people including myself that go through a ton of cars but are sitting on there hands due to the high prices and high rates.

I'm not exactly sure where all the 125k ++ SUV and Diesel buyers are coming from but I'm not one of them. I Remember when 100k was Ferrari or Porsche Turbo money and now we are talking about trucks hitting higher prices than those marks....People have lost there minds and I'm sure we will start seeing 10 year loans any day now:D

I’m in the same boat. I typically change cars every 1-2 years. The lease on my Lexus is about to be up and I think I’m going to buy something a little older this time around because the newer car prices are completely out of wack right now.

"You're preapproved for a $60,000 auto loan at 5.85% APR for a new car, or 5.99% APR for a used car"

From my credit union. They dangle the carrot I didn't ask for. It's more of a carrot filled with razor blades imo lol. No i did not apply they just tell their members this to see who bites.

*This is the same credit union I have had 2% range loans with in the past.

I have a 21 F-250 6.7 diesel. The thing just sits in the driveway looking pretty week after week. Only use it to drop the boat in the water. I went up to the gmc dealer in Bullhead last week to talk about downsizing into 1500 sierra 4wd. I'm sick of making this giant payment on a truck that just sits. The Sierra is 62k. I have a pretty good rate on the ford so I'm expecting the #'s on the Sierra to not look pretty with the rates these days. Man. Those guys did thier math and came back and threw the payment worksheet on the table.. "how's $1624/month sound"? .. told them f you give me my keys. Insane!! And I have great credit! I'll be keeping the f-250..😁

I've been thinking about a new gas 3500 crew cab short bed and offing one or both of my low mileage 2000 diesels but between the interest rate, sales tax and the ungodly price of yearly license and registration not to mention I got a quote on insurance that was out of sight im like 🤮
