Pretty sure the fire permit is nothing new and been around for a couple of years now.

But do agree, it's pretty lame. Just like the wilderness pass for CA.

I haven't been to Glamis in a few years but have friends that go regularly and none of us have ever acquired a permit like this. I am sure its a matter of time before these permits and more new ones are introduced at all OHV areas especially with the growing popularity of the SxS's

Did mine last week. Only thing I can think of, is it gives them a database of everyone who goes out to enjoy time with their family.

It?s just more bull shit we have to deal with, you would think the parking permit (annual pass) would cover a fire 🔥!

Thanks for the heads up!

I've been out a few times the last couple years and even had rangers in camp looking at registrations and drooling on my buddies Banshee. No mention of a fire permit?

It?s just another way that they can come in to your camp to try and find an up sell on the ticket that they?ll write you.

Exactamundo!

Hey, is that A-1 sauce in a glass bottle? There's another ticket. Is that a bottle of JD? BNAG! Another ticket.
And then of course they start asking questions, basically a mini investigation.

They've usually always been polite but it's bullshit.

I can understand a permit like this in a wooded area, but there isn't shit to catch on fire out there?
What's next? Will they start enforcing the spark arrest mufflers too?

Mines already USFS approved Mr. Ranger.:finger

its a little known rule that nobody has ever worried about, but with the gestapo force in glamis these days they need any and all reason to violate your rights.

Spark arrestors have been enforced in the desert for a couple decades now. It's been the law for as long as I can remember. I've had rangers use their dowel before to check. Not really a big deal.

Glamis is BLM. I'm sure it's just one permit.

Only took me less than 5 minutes to get my fire permit. One less thing they can hassle me for.

It's more Kalifornistan and Gov't BS. I got mine some months back. Best suggestion I can make it save it to your phone - I always have my phone with me so if they ask for it that's where it'll be.

Watch, they won't accept a facsimile / photo

Interesting.
I've been going to Glamis since the 1980s

Never, ever, ever had a ranger check a sparky. Ever.

I see it the other way around?
One more reason for them to come hassle me, you or anyone they choose. By saying they're checking your fire permit.

A permit? Really?
Everyone stop and ask yourself why.
Sorry I thought I quoted Welldigger00 's post. Too many cocktails. I totally agree with you! It's just another reason to screw with the general public.

Yep. I was at Jawbone this past weekend and they have them right behind the counter. I was there getting my free BLM "permit" you need to carry so that we could ride over to Randsburg. I spotted the campfire permit and asked about it. I had to fill one out when I went riding in the Sequoia's last year which is understandable. They're good for a year and basically say to use common sense when having a fire.

On a side note, we started going back to Jawbone/Dove Springs last year after taking a few years off and I see California State Parks rangers now on patrol and haven't seen a BLM Ranger since. I've spoken to a few of them and they've been nothing but nice, but I can see the writing on the wall with Cali State Parks involved. Their land is literally sprinkled amongst the BLM land so it's almost impossible for them to delineate where different rules start and stop. For now the CA ranger told me they are observing BLM rules, but it's only a matter of time in my opinion before they enforce their own rules and guns won't be allowed out there anymore. He even saw that we had a model rocket and told us we couldn't shoot that. :rolleyes

now they have "probable cause" to come into any camp and check for a permit, if you have a fire going anyway and who doesn't. thats all this is. Id also wager that they have upped the fines now for burning contraband wood (pallets etc) and make this hold up in court if anyone fights it.

Seems every couple years they drag out some old rule to justify contact with vacationers. Pitiful way to operate.[emoji107]
Been a handful of years since I've been to Glamis. BS like that makes Ocotillo much more attractive.
