What helped me was to think of all the goofy, funny, and great times we had with ours. Those are forever memories - and know that Marley had a great life with your family and was a happy dog. I don't know what it is about dogs but loosing one hurts more than can be explained. I said never again after we lost our boston terrier and 3 years later my wife tricked me into another one that's awesome and brings a ton of joy and life to the household.

I'm so sorry. Sudden illness and death of a beloved pet is much more difficult to bear than advanced age infirmities and a planned merciful euthanization.

In 2016 our orange tabby BOC (an acronym for Bad Orange Cat) had rapid onset kidney failure and we had to put him down within 36 hours of discovering he was ill. He was just five years old. BOC was a beautiful and smart kitty, his misbehaving adventures were hilarious, and it was devastating to lose him in that manner. I'm sure you're suffering in the same way we were, and I send my condolences.

I'm so sorry. It seems like their cycle of life is so short compared to ours. For us, it hurts to lose our pets, they try so hard to love us without asking for much in return. It seems to hurt more then when humans pass on, it's the un-conditional love and trust they have for us. Your will never forget them but one day you will get another and the cycle starts again.

Those that don't have a furbaby don't understand that they are not dogs but family childern, Marley crossed the rainbow bridge and will forever wait for you, I have 5 waiting, it is devistating to have them go, rest in peace puppy dog

So sorry to read this, when I lost my boy, I had no idea anything could hit me so hard. I feel shame saying it emotionally hurt more than losing family members. I used to feel terrible guilt about that, but its not that they meant more or something...... its just the sneak attack on emotions and vulnerability to them. What I am saying is its normal in its way. No one ever knows what to write at these times, but the only thing that has ever given me comfort is this:

Your dog hit the dog lottery getting you and your family to love them their whole life. Just remind yourself that Marley had the best life possible for 100% of the time. Very few are so fortunate. Be grateful, be proud, all your work and income, family and love, children, everything, all made that world possible for Marley. So sorry Shintoooo
