There is an exemption for news purposes anyway. So this is a non story

But yeah you've always needed permission to do anything commercial in a park, including film.

Hopefully people are doing their homework. There is a group of people from Temple Bar fighting BLM because the government is trying to quietly prohibit the use of motorized boats on the lake. I am not and do not want to be a spokesman for the group but people need to wake up. I try to stay well versed on the happenings at Mead and Powell because to me, that is a starting point and just like the water in those lakes, what happens there will likely trickle down to Mohave and Havasu and who knows how much further. Just my .02 but I built a home in Havasu and would hate to see the use of the lake restricted or even prohibited at any point, now or in the future. Just like the way they are trying to rezone part of the island to cram low cost homes in there and retail shops. Bad idea in my opinion and would make island life miserable during he summer.

So if the rumors a true and Mead becomes a dead pool by 2025, what happens to everything below Hoover dam? That's right, it dries up! This is really F'ing serious folks.

If the drought continues things could really change. Imagine if Havasu drops 10 feet.

Agreed, if they go with the "press route" there is nothing the feds can do about it. However, they need to get the documents from the government to get the rights back... 🙄

Read this. Its such an easy problem to fix actually. My personal opinion is Ag has to take a hit to fix this. Which will take government intervention.

The path to 3588'!

I just read native Americans get roughly 20percent of the water allocation .
1. What the fuck do they do with it all ?
2. If there not using it all and are selling a good portion why are the members tribes multi millionaires ?
3. I read the original info on the internet so it must be fact .

When the Federal Govt says you can’t film, there’s nothing to see here. It means . . . . . There’s Something to See There.

Sin City Outdoors is an interesting and informative family show. Recently they busted the myth about the Mississippi River drying up. They drove all the way to the Mississippi to document their findings. Very good YouTube series. I enjoy it.

Almond growers are the problem. Ask yourself if you really need almonds in your life?
And something like 80% of the crops are exported to China. Fuk them, let them figure out how to grow there own damn almonds.

So, how important is western state boating to an east coast elite liberal? I’m afraid we’re about to find out.

What's your thought on what to do?

The obvious solution starts with making the withdrawals not exceed the incomes. Just like a bank account.

In a simple world you would just cut all of the water rights owners' annual draws by x% (between 15 and 20%).

In our world, well try stripping someone of water they "own", an asset that has value as real estate. It would be like creating a 20% easement through someone's farm for a road or right of way, thousands and thousands of them. It's gonna be a huge clusterfuck of legal battles, because even an act of congress would still end up working its way to the supreme court....

In a perfect world water allowances would be much more directly and finely tied to the reservoir levels, as it is now, it's both inadequate and coarse.

The Blue Ribbon Coalition was integral in getting Glamis's huge closed areas back open, and also getting rid of a bunch of the blanket 2 stroke outboard and PWC bans on the Colorado river lakes.

They have a long track record of doing a pretty solid job, and this is going back like 15-20 years from when i first heard of them.

Good post. 👍

I would beg to differ. Take a look at BRC tax returns. I'm not a fan of BRC. The current BOD gives me pause that they might become a productive association, but they take credit for many things they don't influence. However, they do like to raise money.

Glamis Advocate = ASA and the coalition of active OHV groups that work together to HIRE LOBBYISTS. BRC will not spend a dime on lobbyists. They wrongly believe it will jeopardize their Not for Profit status.

Lobbyists are only one avenue, Lawyers and lawsuits can have great outcomes, that is what BRC has done over the years.

Not saying they are better or worse, it's just a different tactic.

The good thing about lawsuits and judgements is they aren't subject to the ever changing whims of legislators.

Doubtful. Racey is right. Every drop of water in Mead is owned by lower basin water right holder. Glen Canyon Dam acts as the Colorado River Zanjero.

The good thing about lawsuits and judgements is they aren't subject to the ever changing whims of legislators.

Take a deeper look at those BRC lawsuits. In many cases, they are in a secondary role or part of a coalition. My experience was from many years ago, and they do have changes in their BOD that could shift the strategy. I'm casting a warning not blindly to donate to BRC and expect them to save anything.

They were happy to do marketing and accept donations for Save the Hammers but did not contribute financially to the cause. Years ago, I got ahold of their tax filing, and the vast majority of the budget went to overhead expenses. Most of that overhead went to the fundraising employees' salaries.

Lawsuits have great outcomes for environmentalists because they have activists inside that rollover. I'm genuinely curious about a few examples of BRC-funded and led lawsuits that had a positive outcome. I would really like to change my mind, bias, and perception of BRC, but they have given no reason to be anything but suspect.

I don't actively participate in OHV advocacy anymore because of the leadership of some of the orgs. I have seen it time and time again since the early 90's. Where were these associations during the Trump administration doing proactive work? They nearly all went broke because they did not have any fights to lose. They don't know how to win, they don't know how to be proactive. They only know how to cry for money and misappropriate it.

We've had very few wins, most of them involved Lobbyists.

If Havasu drops 5 feet..So Cal, which gets 50% of its water from the aqueduct from Havasu turns into a barren desert.

It is simply not going to happen.

If water can no longer pass through Hoover dam, how will they keep water in Lake Havasu?
At some point I'm sure the divergent tunnels would be used . You can't let 10's of millions of people die of thirst . Or maybe our current government would ? I'm surprised somebody like Oprah has not built her own desalination plant on a small scale .

Not happening. If they used the divergent tunnels and allow water to lower further past dead pool vegas would dry up.

Given a long enough timeline most of these organizations have a tendency to end up being self serving, no doubt about that.

I remember back around 2000 they tried to ban all non DI two strokes, including outboard, on mead (may have actually been in all parks) and iirc it was BRC fought and ended up winning to where the ban only covered PWCs and that was after allowing a 10 year grace period that finished around 2012. And outboards are still allowed.
