I’m going to try this another way per my earlier thread “thread search”
Who was the member her that visited some family earlier this year in Georgia area and took some pics of a really green lush neighborhood from the front yard in a kind of overcast day and posted them here. I’m just trying to find the pic to convince my wife that this is an alternative to Desert life when we get older.

Pretty much all of Georgia, NC, SC look like this. Really beautiful area and fairly cheap to live. I’ll probably be there when the military is done moving me around.

Some Californians would say weather. I’m born and raised in CA, and I don’t even notice the humidity. Actually, after being in FL so long, GA is a nice break from heat and humidity, I find it quite mild. Winters are mild as well, maybe a light dusting of snow but that’s about it.

Maybe the rain too? Afternoon thunderstorms in the summer. But something has to keep everything green without sprinklers!

Otherwise, low housing prices, low insurance rates, low taxes, low gas prices, less traffic (unless in downtown ATL), and a ton of very large beautiful lakes.

Spent a couple years outside Atlanta.
Pros:
Affordable housing: Huge house on a golf course for less than a condo here
Neighbors: They actually bring pies/snacks to introduce themselves.
Lakes everywhere- we were 15mins from Allatoona.

Cons:
Weather- I really don’t care for humidity or freezing weather. It’s colder than you’d think
Pollen- Growing up in So cal I never knew it was a thing.

Be careful to check out school districts if you have young ones. Ton of areas you have to do private based on the schools. It’ll pay for another mortgage.

Spent many a weekends down in Atlanta when I was in HS. Had some good times down there.
Much like Georgia I grew up in Tennessee and the climate is about the same. Like others have stated a lot of bugs but the humidity gets me when ever I go back to visit.

This is the house I grew up in, it was on a water front double lot and my old man had bought the lot next to us so no one would build on it. House built in 1968, 3,300 sgft, 4 bedroom 4 bath. We sold it in 2000 after my parents passed for $260k. At the time that sale just paid the estate tax that was owed.

Some of the other scene's from around the area. The south is truly some beautiful country.

Was it a stand alone thread or embedded in one of those "What did you do that no one else did" threads? Can you recall any specific string of words in the thread. Doing a search for "Georgia" isn't working, even after narrowing it down to 2018 posts (I remember the picture so I'll know it when I see it).

Do banned members posts remain archived? Any possibility member is banned or dropped off the site?

It was a stand alone thread someone was visiting friends or relatives the pic was shot from the front porch or door area toward a street that curved toward the house, it was earlier this year or late last year im sure of that.

No but that sure sounded familiar. I looked through the entire Thread and it was not it. Im almost second guessing myself, I wounder if it was North Carolina instead of Georgia.

JBB had lots of pics of his home NW of Atlanta, but he's been gone like 2 years.

We lived in Dacula on the North side for 6 years. Great place to live and really miss it. Lake Sidney Lanier is fantastic. North GA is beautiful. Being from TX and having lived in southwest FL, I had no issues with bugs and humidity.

You get 4 seasons and it will snow maybe once a winter and freezes several times. Summers are in the low 90's.

Traffic is bad in metro Atlanta, but decent elsewhere. Many folks do not realize the altitude of Atlanta. Based on Major League Baseball cities, only Denver is at a higher altitude.

Savannah is also a great city and on the Atlantic.

As far as pollen, the GA pines will make everything yellow in the spring. Messy stuff but it lasts only a month or so.

I'd never hesitate to live there again if there was some opportunity I could prosper from.

I actually think it was a thread that a member took a trip out to Nashville/Knoxville and looked at a possible move or did move. I believe he was showing pics of a few houses on the market that he was looking at. Maybe search moving to Tennessee or Nashville, there was aslo one that his parents or in-laws lived there but I really believe it was someone looking to move.

I’ve heard people reference that before, but Atlanta is only 1000ft above sea level. I guess it is technically one of the higher stadiums, but it’s nowhere near 5000ft of Coors.

We are in Michigan now. After labor day we will be heading to Tennessee, Georgia, NC and SC to see which lake we want to build a lake house on.

Make sure to check out Lake Hartwell. Properties are plentiful and can be had pretty cheap. Really nice lake, pretty big and very quiet.

And that is why I stated only Denver is higher.:D

Technically Atlanta is at 1,686 if the elevation is taken at Stone Mountain which is south metro Atlanta.

Hartwell is huge and you can boat on the busiest of days without being near a crowd. You can follow upriver and see Clemson's stadium. Beautiful lake with properties in both GA and SC. Less than an hour from Greenville and about 1 1/2 from Atlanta.
