Space heater is in mud rooms and laundry rooms and bathrooms and the whole rest of the house may still be heated with a gas heater.

He became a big time actor in the French Connection, with a car chase scene only second to Bullitt.
His break-out roll. He got more publicity buzz from that part than anyone I've ever heard of since.

This may be a bit off, but at 95, how was his health? Mental or physical? Sad as it is to think, I wonder if she had a medical emergency, and was trying to get meds. Dog gets locked up by accident, and dies from no food or water. She dies in the bathroom from the emergency. He, possibly mentally slipping, has little sense of time. He doesn't take meds, as no one there to remind him. Walks outside looking for her the next day or several maybe, comes back inside and collapsed.

The above article goes into detail as her condition being in a relatively advanced state of decomposition, but not anything of his.

I assume at one point he lived near or around Culver City. Saw him ride a beach cruiser to Tito's once...seemed pretty sureal.

Kind of my take on it too. Nothing sensational, but media has to draw attention even if only by speculation. He was a great actor, retired and faded away to live the rest of his life with the woman he loved. Not much to talk about, so stir the pot, or not let a crisis go to waste?

It's sad though, the time that had past with them both deceased. I don't remember him spouting off political stuff, so to me that made him a great actor as well as the roles he played.

Honestly, hard to believe he was 95. Made a huge mark in entertainment, with no scandalous BS that I'd read.

Read that the Coroner determined that his pacemaker stopped 9 days before they found him.
So at least one part of the mystery is solved if true.

One theory bounced around is one of them found the other dead and the shock of the discovery was either fatal, or suicidal.

The causes of death for actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were released Friday after days of mystery and speculation.

At a media conference Friday, Dr. Heather Jarrell, chief medical examiner for New Mexico’s medical investigator office, identified Hackman’s cause of death as hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiac disease, with Alzheimer’s disease as a significant contributory factor. Arakawa’s cause of death was said to be hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare disease caused by rodent-spread hantaviruses.

Wife died first apparently.

My mom worked for Disney Studios.
Mom mentioned once Walt Disney said some actors are lucky charms to a movies success.
Just their mere presence in the film alone gave the movie a unique character.

"Their Voice, the camera loves them and they act well with any script you hand them."
When I see a good actor in a movie I like I think of that.

Carroll Baker, Sean Connery (Darby O'Gill and the little people), Tommy Kirk a list of other actors that guaranteed a movies success Walt mentioned.

Hackman would have been on that list.

The wife had Hantavirus.😬😲🐁🐀

The wife could have easily picked it up unaware how easy it is to get.
Not transferred person to person.

Maynards private school rented some cabins in Yosemite.
Parents went up days earlier to stage it all.

Rat shit and nests all over the place in the cabins. The parents made a few phone calls, then canceled the kids trip. Health authorities later tested it positive.

First thing that came to mind with NPS DOGE cutbacks. We pay all this money to the NPS taxes and park entrance fees and rental fees and this should never have happened.
People fucking off on the job.
Ya don't have to work and they can't fire you.

Rare but can be fatal if not treated

You pretty much have a 50/50 chance if you get Hanta and if you survive your respiratory system is going to be the worse for wear.

The key is early detection and treatment and being in good health to begin with. My mom worked in the Hospitals in the Southwest when Hanta first showed up back in the early 90's. One doctor told her he had never seen a patient go from flu like symptoms to dead in such a short amount of time. Probably a pretty good guess that Betsy contracted it and just thought it was a bad cold and then was overcome before she could get to a doctor.

Spread from dried up mouse urine and feces, you go to clean the shit up using a broom or a vacuum and the particles get swept into the air and you inhale them, symptoms show up in a couple of days and it looks like the flu. If you have to clean up anything that has mouse turds on it is soak the area with a bleach solution, wear gloves and a mask and DO NOT use a vacuum.

Worked in an attic this week that had previously been home to a rat family. Feces everywhere so I was careful not to disturb it and wore a mask.

So this spooked me a little with the Hantavirus due to the fact that the C10 taxi was infested far worse than I had thought and I had to clean it all out.

IMG_4300.jpg IMG_4301.jpg

Due to me being unedgimikated about this the only ppe I used was gloves and of course I blew it out so I decided to enlighten myself on it.

Key points

It only lives outside the host for three days

Do not get it airborne

It will be in urine and saliva also

Clorox cleanup works well to get rid of the piss smell and kill remaining bugs

Whenever someone notable dies there seems to be a controversy about the cause of death or the time of death or some other circumstance.
This pause gives the attorneys adequate time to tweak the will until the assets can be awarded to the chosen recipient.

Just my observation from watching the news since Howard Hughes‘s death.

Two different yachts. Were they both his at different times 🤷‍♂️
The first one was was original around the world cruise (Starship). If you ever seen a ship after a world cruise, they usually need new paint.

The ship was cleaned up, after the famous cruise, and resold a few times. Gene was an owner when it was repainted blue.

Well it went through a lot more than a coat of paint, as they're distinctively different hull and superstructure configurations.

One is rigged for the ocean, the other has been remove for dry dock service. Both are the same boat.

I tell ya what, here's the link to Gene Hackman's world touring Northern Marine 75' "Starship", which was sold and renamed "Cheemaun" as noted in the article you linked.
You'll notice the similarity of hull and superstructure designs and the modest modifications made during retrofit.

The vessel with the blue hull is not the same boat ---- and at this point I will excuse myself from further horse whippin. 😁 ;)

this is Northern Marines past builds.

😉

Call Northern marine and ask if they are the same. 😁. Notice starship… different paint scheme. The boat has been in for retro fits every new owner. New radar towers, new equipment, repower….

Don't need to, if you read the picture YOU posted originally, it states that Hackman's boat was the (TOP) image and the bottom image, which isn't even a Northern Marine, is simply showcasing their hoist capabilities.
Norther Marine Hoist Capabilities.jpg

Look at any image of any sized Northern Marine built trawler and they all share the distinct hull similarity to Hackman's Starship (Cheemaun) which the Blue Trawler shares none.

You probably need to comprehend a little better. The top one ( starship) now ( renamed) Cheemaun.😉
