There is a significant range of gasoline taxes per state. Surprisingly CA is not the highest at about $.54/gal. Average price of regular in CA is about $5.25/gal. The state with the highest gasoline tax is Pennsylvania at about $.58/gal. Yet the average price of regular in PN is only about $4.01/gal. WTF??!! Believe Hawaii has the highest cost of regular gasoline at about $5.30. But, this also includes a nearly $.52/gal tax.
So, we’re told these gasoline taxes go to road construction, maintenance and administration. How’s all that going to work when/if we switch to EV? Increase the tax of diesel? Diesel is already heavily taxed. What would an increase in those taxes do to the cost of goods and inflation? Perhaps too many of our political leaders were Art History and Gender Studies majors?? Just sayin’
