Got an early start after our good friends at Got Water Marine replaced the amp in our stereo and we were on our way to the sound of music.
Did not see a single boat all the way to the gorge.
Weeds are getting heavy in certain areas.
Vessel View is a neat gadget and tells gph, mph, distance to empty etc.
Only used 11.4 gallons round trip

Vaughn and crew are awesome. Always there to help and answer all my silly questions
Vaughn has the patience of a saint to work with me. We started out with a used toon and then he sold our powerboat and then sent someone over to our house to buy the used toon instead of making a sale at his store. Then we bought the new one.
They sure put the fun in boating. You'll be very happy.

Vaughn saved us yesterday.
Got back from powell with a broken bimini attachment.
It sheared off about 3 hours up the 40.
I thought i had the bimini well tied down, but the 40 and 89 are crap.
We stopped by got water to ask how to fix it. Its the bracket on the side wall. Vaughn and his tech have seen this before. They grabbed 2 new pieces, hopped in the boat and replaced 2.
No cost. I never even shut my truck off.
That is a good business!

The Gorge is by far my favorite part of the River.

I might be in the market for a new Toon in the fall for next season. There are about four mfg's im looking at.
How is the overall built quality of your Avalon ?
Is 48 mph shown with two people and a 300hp ?
Would you buy another Avalon ?

Thanks

This is our 2nd Avalon. 2 of our other friends have them and love them.
The toon has 300 hp. It's been 53 mph empty. I've had it 51 with both biminis up.
It also has the larger 27" tubes
48 was EZ and had a couple hundred rpm more to go but it was getting rough out.
2 people, full gas, 58 gallons and both biminis up

We looked at Crest, South Bay, Coach, Godfrey, Sun Tracker Regency, and Trifecta
They all have some good and bad points but Avalon was better in more ways and had a floor plan that suited our needs
As someone else said we also like the smooth clean look to it.

I can help with this
We have a 2015 avalon ambassador 25ft
300 verado. 4 adults full fuel it was at 43mph on powell.
Havasu its about 45. This is double bimini up
Cruising speed is about 38 to 40. Seems to be the sweet spot for staying on top of chop.
Cost of ownership has been minimal. Just had 100 hour service. Next service is 300 hour im told.
It has about 1400 miles on it now, ive never reset the garmin.
It has never been at the dealer for any warranty work except a recall on the merc.
It doesnt matter if it glassy or huge chop, still the same speed.
Few rattles, the bimini and gates but nothing annoying.
When we bought ours the 300 was the biggest avalon would do. They do bigger now. But 45mph is more than enough.
A 350 or 400 would just be less rpm is all. Same cruise speed. So im not sure its worth the extra money.
I would buy another avalon. Ive climbed all around other brands. They are not better. Not bad but not better
The interior in ours looks new still. No fading. No stretched our material.
The side walls are aluminum molded panels with real paint. They look new.
We have the faux teak floor. No issues at all.

Just wrapped up almost 300 miles in 4 days on powell. Zero issues. It was stupid rough at times.

Do some comparisons by looking at each. But look deep, not just the cosmetics. There are some nice looking toons now but under the 'fancy looks' they are not built great.
Ive heard horror stories lately about bad aluminium welds on a one particular brand.

Ez is getting more mph with the same hp verado. Im under proped. Mine turns 6300 rpm. His is a bit lower. I tested a talled pitch when i bought it and gained 2mph and lost 200 rpm. At the time 2mph wasnt worth $500. Avalon gives these smaller props assuming high capacity weights, like 10 people. We are normally 2

^^^ When we were toon shopping recently, I was suprised that one of the brands we looked at was using sheet metal screws to secure their decks. You could reach under the railing and feel them. Really nice toon with a lot of cool options, but a deck that is not through bolted is half ass IMO.

I have viewed the youtube vids of the Avalon ATX, Manitou & JC turning more like a v-bottom when pulling wakeboarders, tubes etc.
Does anyone have any info on the Avalon ATX, Manitou, Crest & JC with the larger center tube ?

Not familiar with the Avalon ATX. Is it new for 2021?
They have the 27" waveglider package which I have on all 3 tubes.
It's amazing how tight of a turn it makes. You can turn the wheel to full stop and it's like on rails.
I wish I had that back in the day of water skiing
Sorry 2017 Avalon AXT HIGH Performance package.
