40 minutes of boat ramp shit show. Lmao... man.. it always amazes me that people have so much trouble with loading and launching. It surprises me that more people don't get killed or hurt real bad more often.
My motto at the ramp or around docks is slow like a pro fast like an ass. I think most people just get into a hurry and panic.

I've been watching those in the early morning's on the weekends while having coffee before the rest of the fam wakes up.

Great entertainment.

For the first guy, I have 4x4 and have used it at jack smith the only time Iโ€™ve ever really spun trying to get the boat out. I remember someone saying use the parking brake. Does that really work?

It can help those that have a tough time feathering the gas. I had my wife start doing it and it helped.
No on the parking brake. Gently two foot it.
Basically the same thing, just easier to release.

On so many of these, where are the drivers of these vehicles and why are they not standing there to catch the boat?

My wife drops me off at the dock, I get the truck and trailer, she brings the boat to the trailer, and I catch the boat and lock it down. Seems pretty easy?

This video seems to have a lot of guys running a boat with other people in it up to the trailer and then bailing off the front so they can catch/winch it up. What's up with that?

And this video is on a calm day. Seems like a good portion of these people would be fucked on a windy day at Mohave.

I'd imagine your truck is new enough to have second gear start?
96 F350 E4OD
90 firebird 700r4
05 Chevy Colorado 4l65?
13 Ford edge unknown fwd
All of them have second gear start.

Have someone in the boat apply a little forward throttle as you pull out until you get to dry ground if you spin the wheels. Works great on a steeper ramp even if you only have a 2WD

When I had a two wheel drive truck I always kept a cheap set of rubber floor mats on hand to throw under the back tires. I never had to use them pulling the boat out but had to use them 5 or 6 times to help someone else out.
Interesting, I have never heard that one before. Seems like it would be slippery.

Acts like treads on shoes especially if you get the really cheap ones with the spikes to hold them in place on the carpet.

At our old launch ramp we would always see people spinning and throwing sand or rock under the tires. Thow them a set of floor mats and just the little extra traction is enough to get forward momentum.

A few thoughts:
There are some badass boats on Havasu. Big V, Cats, Decks, Toons. Pretty cool cross section of everything.

Iโ€™m surprised thereโ€™s not more carnage every weekend. Injuries, gel/trailer damage. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Rollbar boats suck to drive. Theyโ€™re even worse with people blocking your view and worse yet up against the wall.

@ArizonaKevin said it, slow down, cool the ego and it usually works best.

Iโ€™ll never launch there again with this guy filming. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜

I occasionally spin at the bay here in San Diego and almost every time at the marina in havasu. Gentle throttle let the tires spin a bit till they dry off and away we go. Looks like this guy was just giving it a little too much gas all at once.

I've got a pretty shallow deck boat, so steep ramps mean I end up floating over my fenders. So the wife and I have built a pretty good system, no matter what,,, the fenders stay above the water line, when the nose of the boat wedges on the front bunks I give the wife a hand signal to slowly back up. Now that the front of the boat is captured and lined up it's just a matter of guiding the rest of the boat onto the trailer. I have the drive trimmed and idling in gear until the bow is as far forward on the trailer as I want. Pin the nose, shut it off, trailer the drive, pull me up, and we are out. like clockwork. It's never failed. and the wife can get a long bed crew cab with a 30' trailer squared up on the ramp pretty damn good. nice to watch guys high five her.

Absolutely. I do this for Arrowhead as the ramp is steep here, too. If I donโ€™t I end up submerging the trailer guides too and now the boat just does anything but line up with the trailer.

The ballers dont even launch their own boats. They have "concierge's" that retrieve, launch, and clean it. Islander is the ramp of choice for that I think!

Im not sure I would do the same. but I guess if your flying in you want as much time to yourself as possible!

We ran into Mr Gibson (Gibson Mufflers) in the channel a few years ago. He came over to thank us and give us a koozie for rocking his product. He talked about his concierge service on his toon. Full service including dropping it in, pulling out and cleaning. Think it was $500 a pop? Whatever it was I told him Iโ€™d do it for less. SOB.

Im with ya @DWC Don also. If that shit keeps up at the Marina, I wont launch there anymore. I'm surprised they are allowing it. They usually run a real tight ship there.

Im confident in my abilities of 35 years boating, but I am a one man band when launching/retrieving. Last thing I need is a sideshow of cameras. Sometimes it doesn't go as smooth as I would like being solo.

Years and years ago, I remember Campbell storage did that $50 in and $50 out. They'd fill the cooler with ice and whatever for an additional charge. I remember wondering what kind of money it took to pay someone $100 to launch and retrieve for you. LOL.

My wife and I have a great system and are in and outโ€ฆfast! Other dudes just stare at her all slack jawed when they see us in action. I am super proud of her.๐Ÿ˜Ž

If we are waiting in line to get out, she will sometimes crank this for the lulzโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜‚

One of the most satisfying things is watching my wife drive down around dudes trying to back in the trailer and get our trailer in the water before they can. ๐Ÿป to the wives that can back up a trailer.

The ex would put the boat on top of the fenders frequently. I couldnt say anything though cause the boat didnt have reverse so once she was committed..... there was no changing. Id usually wade out about waist deep to catch it. She did always manage to get the bow between the outer most bunks at least though.

I get a kick out of watching the guys in Yamahas fumble around at low speed.

I owned one and got the boat almost sideways on the trailer the first time.

It was a bit windy but those things are very tough to steer at low speeds and the drivers are usually new.

I drive the truck my GF drives the boat off and back onto the trailer. Once she got comfortable we went with this routine and she gets the boat right on the trailer centered every time.
