now the badd... I knew this going in though,... I've owned lots of halletts and they all like to kite off the rollers, and you have to mess with them to get them to run on the keel..the biggest problem today was the prop... they used to like to put the hydro props on everything back in the 90's... well this boat has a hydro IV 24p four blade... does everything wrong all at once...there is a balance to propping a boat right... and the end result is you want the boat to fly level and lift to run on the keel level... so you need the right balance of transom lift, and bow lift... the 210 did pretty much like ever 210 I've owned when I got it.. hopped across the lake and slammed rollers hard..anything above 50 mph and she was a hand full... had to run those big tabs buried to keep from getting sea sick, that and she didn't like much trim at all...so I have a few props to try out.... and need some more transom hardware....gonna take a trip or two to mead before shes a ghost rider...

thanks so much for the offer, but, even though it the highest offer, well, the only offer, I decided that I will never find as nice of a hallett 210 as this one, so I'm keeping it...I don't like the colors,.. but starting to find them to be ok...that and 100k for a new one.. I'm only in this one 30k, and she's well kept and pretty much like new.... just got back from so-cal picking up the 2 sets of solid black winshields for my son and my 210's, got them from primo... super guy to deal with...thanks 240... and I don't like the flipped up part at the top of the windshield either

That Hallet isn't fugly to me. It's not mind blowin DCB n whatnot but I think it looks pretty ok. She's the girl next door that will treat you right and is a 7 out of 10. Nobody likes supermodel maintenance anyways

One of the first things I need to do Is the transom plate,... this is the most improvement to all my previous halletts..really soften up the ride and keeps the kiting and slaming from happening..gives the bow a chance to go to work... as it is now,.. it takes all the hits in the mid section...no Bueno

The purple is not a choice I would have made and the rest of it is a little busy, but it's not the worst thing either.

For what you paid for it and the condition it's in.... I would let the colors ride with no regrets, and no remorse.
that's where i'm at...I've had it out there that I would buy a nicer one, and sell this one... but 210's are hard to come by... and I would have to see a better than I got,.. we love the 210 for mead and had a great day today,.. whipping down at the ramp was a breeze...so any ways,... i'm gonna dump some more coin in it and keep her..

Would this be the world famous 2Forceful whamo plate? That boat is beautiful and I’m looking forward to your tweaks to make it perfect!

Having a 210, I'm a bit biased. Those colors would not be my first choice but your boat is far from ugly. I like the way the purple popped in the sun next to the yellow.

My engine was a re-do this winter going from a 454 to a stroked 496, pretty much a Mercury Marine 500hp copy minus a few cubes. We are very similar in hp/ Bravo set up. Motor & new external steering are scheduled for next month & then time to re-prop.

I'm all in on your thread.

2nd prop,... and probley know the results... a bravo rev 4...23p... couple problems...one.... no defuser-ring...and #2 too small of pitch.... so this one will go with the some day when i'm board and nothing better to do...

Got to admit your orig Re-used pics didn’t do that 210 any justice.
It looks way better on the water and not shot w a 80s Polaroid :D

3rd prop...and another one of those that I know won't work... but interesting... I had ron hill custom make this prop... , it's a 23p 5 blade.. 14.5 diameter ... I think I had this built for sues first deck boat with the 496 ho... and I have no idea what it would really work on,... but would bet it would be a badd ass prop on a magic deck with a 496 ho..could be a great prop for cut and jump skiing or ???? so if anyone wants to try it... hit me up and we will..

what if anything are you doing to the transom???it has been told to me that nothing needs to be done with much anger.... but if you look at the fast badd ass halletts, they have more money in transom hardware than it cost to lay up the hull..

I know you’ve done it on a lot of boats but I still don’t get how the wamo plate does anything tabs don’t. Either way love the threads of you tinkering with stuff.

4th prop... here's a prop with a lot of good history, and use to be the go to prop for me when I use to run deep V Baja's.. the mach 1 four blade.... the cool thing about these is the 14.5 diameter ... lets you go up in pitch instead of down... and with good driving skills, you could squeeze an extra 3 or 4 mph out of the boat... the one I have is a 26 pitch...the fat blades bite real good and gives a great hole shot, and also they have a defuser ring... again... I think it's a benefit to the 210

well... here's an easy way to understand how it works... amagine if you had a cav plate on the back of the boat, and it's working great...then you took 6' out of the middle... the only time the cav plate would work is when the boat was going slow right?? the wamo, center plate works when the boat is aired out and noT much help from the tabs... so to compensate for the lack of usefulness, you have to tab down more and keep getting longer tabs...I've never seen a schiada with 4' long cav plates,.. and you can get your self into big problems with full cav plates and down pedals..

5th prop, here's one that I think will work good, it's a labbed 26p bravo 1 4 blade... but... I don't like labbed props, and would never buy one, but I have it so we'll see what it does..

prop #6... this is the prop I would buy If I needed to start from scratch, my son has a hallett 210 with a carbed 454,.. he spins a 24p bravo...it's a 26p ron hill signature.... I've had nothing but luck with these props and of every test they out performed the bravos...

prop # 7, this is a new in the box never opened bravo 1 28p four blade... I don't think I have the motor for it... and if I do the aluminum head swap...probley need more prop... and gonna need more hardware than a f'n wamo plate on the transom....lol... it never ends till you quit...

Your description of the 210 handling out of the box is spot on. I have been going thru a similar process trying to calm the boat down over 70 and not slaming the bow on the occasional roller. Mine did not like the Bravo 1 26p at all too much transom lift. Been playing with 3 blade Mirage props, I am picking up a cutting edge 4 blade to try next week. Looking forward to your results

Nothing other than steering assist which I think you already have. I did put in a new steering cable & new style steering box at the helm. Last I remember Trickle didn't do anything to transom. Ultra Lucky would be another good resource to check with. I think both Trickle & UL are around 625hp. What are you thinking?

here's what ive found,...the 210 is way out of balance, and with the big block weight.. very transom heavy...the next thing is the re entry on the bow... it's just not a wave buster like schiada... so if the boat gets too far off keel.. it'll kite, next thing that happens is when it lands... it's always transom first and it buries deep putting the keel even farther off and with the 21 degree bottom it like to pick a side so it starts the side to side deal..I also found that it's easier to settle down the open bow boats, and it's my belief that they are more balanced...I don't know a lot about the ski race boats, and often wondered if the have ballast weight in the front... I do know this.....70 mph was the scary number for me on multiple halletts ... but tamed way down with a center transom plate....maybe the real fix would be a notched transom.... that's a question for thane....

Trickle & UL are both running the Dana tabs. Don't want to speak for Trickle but he has said the boat handles a lot better with the big tabs, I think Dana 1000

All the ski race boats I have seen have the drive extension box which helps with the balance issue you are describing, and lots of plate. I have added 12” Dana’s and will probably change the plates to the next size up. The biggest help I have seen is using the 2” shorter drive. Didn’t see a significant speed increase but it did help the handling. Still haven’t found the right prop.
