Ive got a 1991 21" howard. I think I have a fuel tank leaking, anyone ever seen a fiberglass tank like this crack? The reason I think it is the tank and not a fitting or a hose is because there is no fuel directly under the motor in the back it is dry, but it is running down the side by the tank. My have to have aluminum tanks put in (hope not!!) any thoughts or experience with this?

Not being familiar with that type of boat. Is the tank full? Could it possibly be fuel expansion?

The ethanol in todays gas eats the inside of fiberglass tanks.

My old Hallett flat leaked into the floor and up to the passenger's feet before we caught it. Glass tanks with today's fuel are only a matter of time, as they say.

We replaced quite a few Boston whaler fuel tanks last season from this exact matter. The ethanol brakes down the resins in the fiberglass tanks and they loose all structure. If you look in the tanks you should be able to see debris in the fuel. That is another tell tale that your tank is coming apart.

If you are looking to replace with a belly tank we have one at the shop that may fit, near new estimated 60 gallons.

Imco can custom make tanks for the boat that will drop right in.

If the boat is in Havasu there is a local guy out there with a company called "tank it". That does great work as well.

My first call would be to imco.
