Thanks to everyone on here for all the kind words . . . really means a lot.
RDP Peeps are really cool folks.

Quick innocent / funny story about the twins.
Many years ago they came down from Alaska to visit during the summer.
The US Open Surf Contest was going on, so I decided to take them down to check things out.
They wanted to go into a surf shop as they'd never been in one before. So we walk over to Jacks on the corner of Main.
The boys were probably around the 8th grade age . . . completely ghost white and couldn't look more tourist like.
As we approach the entrance to Jacks 2 Blonde Bombshell Knockouts walk out . . . giant boobs, barely-there bikinis, killer tans, hair / make-up the whole kit !
Both of the boys stopped, jaws fell, and in complete unison they both out loud say, "WWOOOOOHHH" !!!
The girls were super cool, giggled, smiled and said, "Hiiiiii Boys" ! 🤣😂😅😆😁😄

Great Memories.

Man oh man. I am so sorry to hear this. Your sister and dad will need you there. Speaking from experience we lost 4 family members in a small plane crash. The emotions are overwhelming and will come and go in a heartbeat. Also anger sets in so don’t take it personally if they blow up on you. Just be there for them. And I almost forgot. Let them be there for you as well. We can be tough as F all the time but we still need people there for us.
My heart aches for family. 🥲
No one can hurt them now. May their souls RIP

I read this last night, and was at a total loss for words. Usually, I'm pretty good with the written word, much better than I speak, but I couldn't collect enough words for a sentence, let alone anything of substance.

We've all lost a family member, or a friend. At some horrible times, we may have lost more than one at the same time. This is the frightening idea of losing both two family members and two friends...laying friends and family to rest is the hardest thing I've done in life.

As for family, and asshole's, I can speak to both with some knowledge. Just over a week ago I was in Cali for a funeral. Saw some of my wife's family that we hadn't spoken with in almost 10 years. It was the bright point of a sad time. We were all a bit nervous, but that faded as good memories of the one lost spilled over to good memories of those still here. We had dinner together, and old wounds disappeared.

Time heals, but healing can also hurt. The current wound won't ever go away, but it will get better. In doing so, maybe it will help to heal the older wounds as well :(

Update….
Talked to my Niece… she said they took 3 planes today w/ family to see the crash site. FAA / NTSB wouldn’t allow them to get up close cause of the investigation. Looks like a stall/ spin on take-off … tried to make it back to the airstrip & punched the ground. She said the boys didn’t suffer.
Bodies are in McCall now and will be transferred to Boise….FAA Protocol is to autopsy the pilot.
Bend Fire Department where Daniel was an Engineer is going way above & beyond…. Posting a ‘watch’ w/ the boys.
Bend FD is also sending an ambulance to Boise to personally bring the boys back home together. Pure Class. 🙏

My Brother in Law went on the trip today to see the crash site …. But my Sister couldn’t do it. She’s crushed. Those Boys were her everything.

Thanks RDP for letting me vent. 🙏

This brings tears to my eyes.

The Bend FD made a very nice statement about your nephew Daniel:

“This is a devastating loss for our family.” said Bend Fire Chief Todd Riley. “Daniel was well-loved and well-respected by everyone who worked with him. We will miss his presence every day.”

Daniel quickly established himself as a proven leader, and became heavily involved with the Bend Fire & Rescue specialty Rescue Team as well as serving on the Bend Professional Firefighter’s Local 227 Executive Board.

A strong paramedic, Harro worked with department administrators and physician advisors to assist in the updating of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) protocols, maintaining Bend Fire & Rescue as a top-level provider of emergency medical services in the state of Oregon.

The Bend Fire Department family is shocked and heartbroken by this tragedy. Bend Fire & Rescue administrative staff and Local 227 representatives are coordinating active member honor services for Engineer Harro with the Oregon Fire Service Honor Guard and the Harro family.

Wow, this is just horrible. RIP to the young men and my prayers to the whole family. From experience, it won't get easy anytime soon so stay strong. It will get easier, just never easy. My sincere condolences.

Not that this takes away from the incredible tragedy of the two young men losing their lives, but, apparently the dog survived the crash, which tugged at my heartstrings.

I don't want to bring up the painful issue just wanted to know how the family was doing? My wife and I have said many prayers for the boys and your family and will continue to do so.
Thank you so much . . . it's been brutal on everyone. Their Dad is being very strong and supportive the best he can, he's a really solid Dude.
My Sister is crushed, she has been staying busy with my Niece and the 2 Wives coordinating the funeral / memorial services, but that's probably the only thing keeping them together.
The big thing right now is my Sister/ Brother in Law are working very hard so that my Nephews Wives don't lose their houses.
I'm not sure what their work/ financial situations are, but I know they want to make sure the girls can keep their homes.
We wanted to pay for all the flower arrangements etc. , but my Sister said the girls would prefer the money over flowers.
After my Dad heard that, he decided rather than fly up to Bend, get a hotel, rental car, meals, etc. etc. to send the money we'd be spending plus some extra to the girls.
It's a tough call, but that's what he wants to do, and the family is OK with that.
It'd be very rough on him at 90, there's been some family stuff that's gone down in the past and I think it'd really tear him up to go up there, in multiple ways.
So I'm respecting his decision.

Thanks again for thinking of us and Your continued prayers, it really means a lot. 🙏

With as much going on, and the sudden way in which it started, those planning the services are still feeling chaos more than sadness. When the services have come to pass, the world slows down...almost to a standstill. When the mood strikes you, call one up, and let them know they're still on your mind and in your prayers. It's a long road they haven't yet turned on, and it sucks to walk it alone...or feel alone.

Found this one today . . .
My Dad digging clams in the Cook Inlet, Alaska with his twin Grandsons.
They look to be around 2-3 years old . . . so around 35 years ago.
Man, really makes you think . . . he's 90 now and they were only 38 and are now gone.

I spoke with my sister today. She and my BIL live in McCall. He’s a retired FF. They were out of state when the tragedy occurred. She said it remains much talked about in McCall. I’d told her about the dog. She felt the locals weren’t aware of that. Any news about the status of the pup? Believe it was being treated in McCall? Glad you’re there to provide support for your Dad. Prayers for all.

Thank You So Much.
From my understanding the dog ‘Cinder’ is doing well, and is now back in Bend w/ Elisif (Daniel’s Wife).

Seeing the pain your brother-in-law is experiencing brought tears to my eyes. I know your sister is hurting too, along with the boys' wives and children.

I'm reluctant to share what I'm about to say because I don't want you to feel I'm doing a me too thing and taking away the focus on your families' loss.

Almost forty years ago, my closest friend's parents were killed in a plane crash. His dad was the pilot. But it was worse than that. There were four other women on the plane, he was taking them to Colorado for a week of skiing and fun. Three of the four were the moms of friends I grew up with.

So it's easy for my tears to come, because I know the pain. You and your family have been in my thoughts since this happened. Mark and Daniel's wives are reeling from the loss, having to make funeral arrangements, holding children close because they have suddenly been forced to understand death, on the edge of panic when thoughts of the future intrude, and wondering how to face it without their rock.

Words are inadequate to express my sorrow and empathy for those who bear the pain of losing these two fine men. May God hold them in his hands.
