Have an opportunity to meet the wife in Ft Lauderdale in mid-June for a couple of days.
What say the RDP braintrust?
Things to do in the Ft L area?
Take a ferry to Bahamas?
Drive or fly to Key West?
Other ideas?

Thanks in advance

Why not just hang near the beach and old town, plenty of stuff to keep your busy in Ft L for a couple days and then you aren't in a mad rush.

Kilwins - Toasted coconut ice cream.

Coconuts restaurant & bar.

Tons of fun stuff to do.

Key west takes 3.5 hours. It’s a commitment and you can’t enjoy it if you can’t hit Duval and stay a bit

The Bahamas Ferry leaves out of Miami. You need at least 2 nights at Bimini Hilton. 3 would be better.
Rent golf cart for your entire stay. Lots and lots of places to explore, drink, and swim.

The number one thing to do in SoFlo is to go boating. Lots to see.

Key West……… To me, the juice is not worth the squeeze. Long drive. Way too many tourists. Middle Keys are less touristy, and not nearly the drive. I’d recommend the Postcard Inn, in the middle keys.

No matter what……. Get waterfront hotel. Life is too short to be inland.

I agree wholeheartedly since I live in the lower Keys. Most go to KW and hit the bars while never getting on a boat and enjoying the real attraction which is the water.

@C-Ya you always have great info. Just looked at Postcard Inn pretty booked up. Pretty much rest of 2024 and first couple months in 2025 gone.

Any suggestions in Key Largo?? Will not be taking a boat.

Thanks

I'll be there next month as well. In-laws inherited a condo on the strip between the waterway and beach. Went last year but didn't get out much as wife was pregnant.

What are the top 3 restaurants and top 3 bars to hit?

We did Baucampers on the waterway last year, it was ok for a big touristy type place on the water. I'd like to find a few of the local hot spots if we are going to make this a yearly trip.

We really like this place. We take our boat, but you really don’t need a boat.

This place has 3 houseboats that are very nice inside. They are 2 bedrooms, but can sleep 3 couples. The houseboats were $450 per night, with a 3 night minimum that last time I checked.

You have the Miami style pool. A dam decent bar. And you are walking distance to Bud n Mary’s. They also have paddle boards and kayaks that you can use for free.

You won’t see this on any hotel website.

Check out this video of the place.

If you are going to Largo make sure to go swim, snorkeling at John Pennicamp underwater nation park. I don’t think a boat is needed. http://pennekamppark.com/
