That's weird, the M2's I work on are 2014-16's I think. They have sway bars and drivers that abuse the living hell out of them. I wonder if the MH setups are set up differently?
The M2‘s I’ve seen have bayonet bushings that are not nearly large enough to hold the sway on a truck. They get blown out super fast. Freightliner has a kit to replace them but it’s pretty expensive. I think the bayonet style was through like 2019?

This is factory:

Pretty easy to roll your own with some generic rod end bushings and threaded tube.

That's more of a light duty setup. The ones I am more familiar with are more of a tie bar beneath and between the leaf packs. I can see where that setup would self-destruct.

Wife and I were talking today. I mentioneded off hand I was looking at freightliners and she said, that’s funny I was just mentioning to (our son) I’d like an F650 instead of an Escalade. ( 😂😂 gotta love that one).

Anyway, which one and why?

I like the freightliners for long distance towing with the air ride seats and what not. Next couple years we plan on getting out and towing to loto, Idaho, shit, maybe even Florida. But kinda a pain to go to the store in it. I realize an F650 isn’t ideal for driving around town but it’s not really THAT much bigger than a full size dually lifted on 22/24’s. Although the ride is shit from what I’m told. I’ve never owned a tow vehicle without 4WD. You can find both in 4wd but a little more scarce. Although do I really need 4WD? 🤷🏻‍♂️

f650 seems more like a toy (which I’m good with lol) sportchasis seems to be the grown up ride. Anyway, what’s says the masses? This would be a used purchase. I don’t take the 25-30% hit on buying new vehicles. 👎

My wife has had these issues for years, she’s got quite the collection of toys now. Just be careful storage becomes a issue real fast.

The F650s have an amazing turn radius. It’s the exact same length and width as a 350 dually, just taller. But surprisingly easy to whip around a parking lot. I have an 07 with the Cat C7 and Allison 3000 trans, Kelderman air ride front, air brakes. Turns heads everywhere, people take pictures with it every time you stop. It gets ~11mpg but holds 214 gallons so it’s a great road trip vehicle. MPG doesn’t change if you’re towing or not lol 🤷🏼‍♂️

Was talking to a Sportchassis guy at a truck stop once and he said he gets 8mpg and only holds 80-something gallons..? But they have air ride seats and cab which mine doesn’t. Yeah the 650s aren’t super fun on torn up surface streets, but on the highway its super smooth and comfortable.

(My 5yo for size comparison lol)

Thanks for the input. That thing is sick. Exactly what I’d want. You ready to sell? 😂

What do you tow and have you ever wished you had 4WD?

Also, what’s the insurance like?

The only thing I’ve ever towed was my 27 Advantage. You know the saying “it tows like there’s nothing back there”..? Yeah I legit didn’t feel or see it back there…I almost hit shit with the boat cuz I forgot lol. Never an issue with 2wd, actually now that I remember, I would put it in drive and take my foot off the brake and it would just walk right up the ramp with the boat, didn’t even touch the gas.

I’ve thought about selling it, but not sure. PM me if you wanna chat about it.

It’s currently insured with Allstate as a personal vehicle. Previously was with State Farm. Both are right about the same cost as my F250.

Thats funny, our 650's at work have factory air ride seats, they have an electric air pump.

Yeah Supertrucks buys them as stripped down cab and chassis knowing they’re going to take it down to the bare cab and do full custom interior and everything. There’s some that have the Frightliner-style lazy boy air ride seats which I’m envious of lol.

I work for the City of LA, they don't spend that kind of money 🤣

I have zero idea on either plus or minus, but if i had the means, id 💯 go with the SC over the 650. Just my $0.02 the 650 is ugly and the SC just has that “W0W” factor to it.

FWIW, you’d be 100% fine with 2wd in Havasu aside from Site 6. I’ve launched 28’ Howards and an E Ticket with my 2WD truck at the Marina and Windsor.
Agreed. Launched our Eticket with an Expedition the first year our so. 😬. Every time my neighbor launches us in our truck he leaves it in 2WD just to show his “skills”.

I got my eye on a couple. Just waiting it out a little. Don’t have time to use it until April anyway. No hurry.

Yo Bro,
That one Quinlan (Bubba's Buddy) posted in your OSO inquiry would be a worth getting more info on. He's a good friend with top drawer stuff. Be perfect since he pulled his Cig before selling and now the big Cobalt, never a problem. You've met him before at Cig functions. Might make an offer.

Yep. I know Quinlan. Figured he’d contact me if he wanted to sell it. I actually saw it in June at the cig run.

I think I’ve located “the one”. 😁👍

Here are a few trucks i have seen over the years. Dustin's is a local legend. Along with this 2wd one I spotted a few years back. I bet someone knows the owner on here.

This is not the same truck.

Reminds me of the first F650 I ever saw. It was all black and owned by a super cross racer back in the late 90’s early 2000’s (maybe Cory hart or someone like that) He has a crane in the bed to lift his bikes out. It was HUGE! I had a 97 suburban with a 15” lift on 42’s so I was drooling. Lol

@Backlash

Matches the SS and everything…
It's almost as clean too! 😜👍

It's a nice truck for sure and also the color I'd love to have. I'm just not sure I really "Need" the Duramax. Yes it's nice, but honestly, we won't be towing that much. And being in Commiefornia, my fear is, the diesel owner's days are numbered. I think a low mileage 1500HD or 2500HD with the 6.0 and 6L80 would be more than enough truck for our needs. Thanks for thinking of me though!! 👍

If money were no object, I’d take a Schwalbe conversion. Most built with 8.3 Cummins, some even bigger motors with 10 speed Eaton trans like this one:
If I was gonna do that, I'd just opt for a bagged Pete. Do one with the baby sleepers and put a bench in it for people to sit back there. 😁👍
