I’ve heard the opinion that individuals shouldn’t be able to sell marked up vehicles.. but it is fine for dealers to do it by the dozens.

Why anyone would pay that for a Raptor R or Escalade V that are slower than a regular V8 Mustang or Camaro is beyond my comprehension.
Same reason you have to become “selected” to buy an 812 spider, or people pay 40 grand for a purse.

Because they can.

Some of us spent the majority of our lives driving trucks for business and pleasure. I only drive my Camaro as a fun treat for doctor and dentist visit days. For all else, I'd rather take my truck than any car.

If you notice that Raptor R is technically used with 149 miles. I'm sure there's a story there, but if Grody's involved, it's dirty.

So drive your cars, I'll drive my truck thanks. But nope, no Raptor R in my future, even for MSRP.

Exactly my point.

It’s a truck. It’s not fast. Almost no one is taking one of those beyond the dark corner of the mall parking lot.

I’d buy a TRX for $100k less and a C8.

Well except one minor detail, I don't like either of your choices very much, certainly not enough to buy one.
But I were able to comfortably pay $ 75K over for a Raptor R and not suffer horrible remorse, then I'd probably already have the other two in my stable.
I can say with upmost confidence, I see no Raptor R in my future. 😁

The other issue with these Special Vehicle Teams vehicles is they’re not special. Every guy in Scottsdale or Orange County who has one has the exact same “murdered out” theme going just the same as all their housewives with “murdered out” Ranges. If I’m a baller, as these people would have you believe, I’d be doing something totally different as to not see 5-10 of the same exact car every time I go shopping in Scottsdale or Newport.

All the people with no remorse are what is keeping the economy going 🤣. If you are willing to pay $100k more for the same thing because you don’t like the sound of the exhaust on the cheaper one. More power to you.

IMHO for the kinda money being discussed for a used Raptor, I’d much rather get into something like this:

I tend to think the motivation to pay such a huge markup on a newly released, rare exotically expensive product, is simply to achieve a higher level of " Because I'm able, and you're not " LAM factor.
Fortunately or unfortunately, it's not a moral dilemma I'll ever be burdened with. 🤣
My story's simply, I either can't so I won't, or I shouldn't, so I wouldn't. 🥴

Ford only makes 2 types of sunroofs.

Sunroofs that are broken & sunroofs that are going to break.
After working in the bodyshop industry and dealing with sunroofs after a collision they all suck. Not all of them leaked but if they did it was near impossible to fix it. We had a couple cars that the insurance paid out a total loss after the car was repaired because we just couldn't get it to seal again. On those cars I advised the insurance company in writing up front to be careful about approving the repair due to the amount of damage and the sun roof.

Trying to find a Gen 2 without one is nearly impossible.

Yep. That the nearly the sole reason why I won’t bother with them. That and a regular slick top 3.5 truck with $6k in suspension is faster, can tow more, and will ride better on the street. :) If you want to embarrass the Raptor Rs at the mall get a 5.0 version and put a Whipple on it.

Ford is seriously pissing me off because they won't allow me to get the tailgate step unless I order it as a package along with the blasted POS sunroom I have no need for and don't want. 🤬
GMC won't allow me to buy a Sierra Denali 6.2 without that infernal cylinder deactivation and their tail gate step sucks balls. Plus their gas tank is undersized.
Rams are yuck, and don't offer a decent engine, despite all the blowjobs the magazine writers must be getting to try to sell me on how bitchen they are.

I’d rather HEY LAM them with my sleeper supercharged truck and scoliosis diagnosis from sitting on my fat wallet too long.

😂.

The 5.7 is the RAM is probably the best sorted and least risk engine of the big 3 at the moment.

The Ram is what the Ford was 5 years ago when I got mine. I can get the options I want and none I dont.

Well that's certainly the incognito approach you seem to be fond of. " Granted she's nothing to look at, but deep down, she's all heart"

Don't forget to put that whipple decal on it, that'll give it street creed. 🤣

My 2021 doesn't have a sunroof or the tailgate step and now I know why it doesn't have the tailgate step🤣

Well except for the minor problem, there's nothing my wife or I can find anything we like about them, inside or out.

If you do, then enjoy.

I love my step, but I do believe GMC's bed access is easier if I'm forced to climb over the tailgate when it's hooked to my trailers.
So I have too give them points for that despite their step being unusable if the hitch receiver is installed.
I really like the new interior on the Sierra Denali, but I'm really spoiled with my 36 gallon tank in my Raptor.
Everything is a compromise. 😬

My 21 Lariat has the 36gal tank as well, it's nice to get 20+ on the highway and drive past some gas stations

Wait until you're enjoying you golden years and the humbling realization that your truck's range can far exceed that of your aging bladder and enlarged prostate. 😖
So I can't tell you the cheapest gas stations between Escondido and Havasu, but I can sure point out the best restroom stops. 🥴

As opposed to the 57 other unique Raptors that look exactly like yours at the rest stop.

Mine has the comfy seats at least 😁

I thought the same think about raptors when I was DD'ing my long travel prerunner, once you accept that you're buying it for a well rounded daily driver that can do the basics of offroading pretty well then you'll be happy. I thought I would buy a caged long travel truck for the money but driving a long travel truck all the time got old for me. For me it came down to needing a new truck and my must haves were leather interior and 4x4. I knew I would want all terrains and some basic suspension for fire roads and basic offroad stuff, with the price of used trucks now the price of the raptor wasnt far off of the price of a stock tundra or f150, then add in the stuff I wanted to do to and a little mental gymnastics and I could justify it. I just had to hunt for a deal. Overall, its a fun daily driver the motor is great for me but I havent had a truck newer than a 2005 so maybe every half ton drives that nice these days.

A modern 1/2 ton drives amazing these days.

Would seem you ran across one of those dreaded & fierce Raptor Clubs 😬, were they wearin colors

My '18 Raptor has the comfy seats, my skinny ass always has the first and final say before any car deal is consummated.

Between my wife and I, we've changed brands and not bought several new cars due to their lack of ass comfort.
She went from Lexus to Audi primarly based on the seats. In '04 I bought a new Nissan Titan after discovering the Lariat seats sucked balls that year, then didn't buy another Ford until '12.

Couldn't you order without and go to a pick a part/junk yard and get another tailgate that has the step🤔

I'm sure I'll get the moonroof, just suck it up like I did with my current Raptor, while I enjoy my step, then just bitch about it on the internet. 🤣
I did have them put an extra dark tint on it, which seemed to help with the interior temps when at Havasu.
I just can't believe so many new cars, that don't even have the moonroof shade anymore. My neighbor isn't happy with his Tesla for this reason and has added layers of tint trying to mitigate the heat on his head.

I must be a minority, my 17' never had an issue with the Sun/Moon Roof, and I liked having the shade open most of the time. I got my 23' with it also, and I won't own another truck without a tailgate step, it's so nice.

No problem with any Ford moonroof, in any of the trucks ever. I just never use it, so it's a waste of money and adds weight. I just haven't a clue how a tailgate step has a single thing in common with a moonroof other than Ford holding such a popular option conditional hostage to the moonroof. ??

Tell them to wrap the glass top with black or body color. Lots easier than tint. My CTSV was double heat rejection limo tint. Worked ok with the shade.
