I had a 2019 work provided truck that had weird transmission issues randomly. never dropped in to 1st and stayed there, but when cold did not like shifting back to first at say a stop sign then shifting back in to higher gears under 25 MPH. One time it seemed to be locked in to 4th gear and would come out. Called our yard and they sent a roll back to pick it up, a week later, "couldn't find anything wrong". Wasn't my truck, but I had to drive to my jobsite the last half mile locked in fourth gear from every stop light. I tried shutting it off and restarting several times.

My current work provided F150 has a recall notice on it for intake valves failing. It's a 2021. As far as I know, there is no fix for that yet so I cant schedule the repair.

The biggest issue I've seen on them is the weird "can't pick a gear" issue, but seen them hang up, like between gears in both. In October of 18 is when Ford changed the design of the C D F drum in the trans. The earlier design runs a standard looking, thin bushing. Through heat cycles and use, that bushing would start to walk, or twist in it's bore. That bushing has holes in it to allow fluid pressure to engage the clutch packs. As the bushing moves, it restricts volume and pressure...changing shift timing and such, even making some gears not engage. The updated drum runs a massive bushing, that is installed in a counter bored portion of the drum. It cannot walk anymore.

Ford dealer keeps sending me notices to schedule the warranty work on our ‘14 to get this completed. Truck doesn’t get used much at work so haven’t done anything.

My personal landscaper does have an f150 though. Fukr is parked in my driveway right now. But it's an '05 and it was free, the only way I could convince myself to own one..🤣🤣

Our 2014 recently had this recall. At 70k miles there have been no issues but I did take it in for "The Fix". Still drives the same as before...

My 2012 had recall for an issue like this. Brought it in,never having the issue. They did the recall supposedly and a month later it happened. Brought it back, been fine ever since.

My 2011 had the same recall, did not exhibit problem. Shifted beautiful until recall done now often bangs into 4th when downshifting. Dealer says still no updates. After 120k started not shifting out of 1st intermittently then went to first at about 50mph😮 trans control module failed inside trans but didn’t cause any damage still going Strong at 150k

This is the crap that made me retire early. Watching Ford hire and promote based on DEI standards. Then approve cost cuts based on how can I get myself a bonus or promoted by cutting costs. Even when the underling engineers would speak up they were told to shut up. Seeing it in real time was an eye opener.

Dont let @rivermobster know I own a ford🤫🤣🤣 but i rescued it from going to the wrecking yard, kinda like rescuing a 20yr old dog, in the end it had a good home to live the rest of its life out🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🤣

While we have all of the F150 nut huggers attention. Anyone have a newer 5.0?

I have my eye on a ‘23 F150 with a 5.0 if/when my truck sales.
