Lived in Newport Beach no less than 75 yard from the sand for four years in college. I've been in SoCal for 24 years.

It was always interesting to me that California beach living isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I talk to people who come to California to spend time at the beach and they say they didn't know it was overcast and almost cold except for July 1 - September 30. It's kind of a Montana short summer. When it's sunny and 75-85, the beaches are great. It's just not as often as advertised.

Just kinda pointing out that overcast and 70 isn't most people's beach weather. So the "Who else got to go surfing in undesirable weather like me?!" doesn't really have the effect on the masses. It comes off like AZ people saying oh 122 degrees is completely fine, I like the heat. I call bullshit on enjoying ass sweat just from walking to your car after work.

It's like some odd, California bias about the general consensus on good weather. This isn't hating on you or not finding anything positive about California. It looks like an awesome time for you and the family. Just can't be a fan of Seattle weather (Currently 67 and overcast there) at a SoCal beach on Labor Day Weekend.
Being a native, the REAL season starts in Oct. so if your looking for the "California Dream" your mistaken.
