So my buddy just got his pilots license and we're talking about flying to Parker for the weekend. Only question is once we land and secure the plane how do we get to my river pad? Is there a taxi or shuttle service? If so can I get some phone numbers! Thanks in advance!

I'd get a rental car for the weekend. If you book in advance you might get a good deal on the rate.

A buddy of mine rolls this way. Fly's from John Wayne to Tulsa. Gets a taxi to where he keeps his Chevy truck in storage near the airport. Drives to Grand Lake house on the water. Boat in boat house on lake ready to go, bass boat in garage ready to launch the next morning to hit the big mouths. I tell him how I roll and he say's that's to much work at my age. Too old, he's exactly 3 day older than me... lol

Not sure there's a car rental at the Parker airport! My house is about 5 miles north of the airport and I keep a landcruiser there but I'm not walking down the 95

Just got his pilots license.....

I would wait a few more hours. I didn't carry a passenger till I had 500 hours.

Copterzach, How's the knee doing? Can you fly in that condition or is it against FAA rules and regulations?

We're going to have a Polish family reunion out there. My older brother and sister will be going to their 50th High School reunion that will be held in Laughlin the same weekend. My brother will be coming down from Washington St. and my sister from Texas. We'll be boating down from Jack Smith or Pirates to Havasu on Friday and Saturday. This will be a treat for my brother and brother in-law since there both gear heads. Saturday is currently up in the air, I'm trying to convince (more gear heads) neighbor friends to meet me out there for some speed runs. I've got em hooked I just need to reel them in... My wife won't be able make this trip, she recently had knee surgery and doing fine. She just won't be able to miss any more work. Boo Hoo :( she gets the whole summer off anyways, sound familiar???

I think the casino will run a shuttle out to pick you up if that gets you closer. A couple of comments online said the manager at the FBO has given people rides into town as well.

I'd be happy to give your friend a ride. Let me know his ETA and I'll plan a trip to the airport to do some work and drop them off on the way home/when they arrive.

Send him a PM with my phone #. Text me with the info. as I'm leaving now to get shit done.

You commercial pilots worry too much, besides, what could possibly go wrong for a new pilot in a rental plane out in the middle of the desert. :eek

Redone, it's left hand pattern and don't forget to buzz the river so everone knows that you've arrived. :D

I saw the surgeon yesterday. Torn ACL and miniscus. I can't be down right now so I am going to keep stumbling around. I am going to get fitted for a brace this next week. Hopefully it will help. I have been flying. It doesn't bother me.

My flight doctor is on a need to know basis. My regular doctor thinks I am in oilfield sales. And the doctor that I saw for my knee thinks I am in sales also.

Why do you think everyone is trying to get over on you?

I'll try this again and real slow just for you. I need to go to the airport today, there is no time frame and if I knew when they were arriving I would plan accordingly.

I would pm my number if I knew it. I'm waiting for a call so I can ask what my number might be. :p

You got me fooled to, I thought you sold the copters (just kidding)... lol your secret is safe with me.

Two days after I tore my acl I was back on the slopes at Snowbird. I skied out the rest of the season. I just couldn't jump any more. My friends thought I was just bullshitting about the torn acl based on what they saw me do on the slopes. That is until they saw my knee pop out of joint. I layed there in pain, poped it back in, cover it up with snow for about 15 minutes and I was good to go again. I played golf up till the day before I had surgery. Sounds crazy but I think playing on a torn acl helped my game (it slowed me down and improved my concentration) in all aspects except putting...

My buddy isn't a pilot (takes a commercial flight out) but his place is in The Grove. That place is awesome, I'd love to retire there. I just have to sell the wife on a cold winter environment...

Gotta be a twinge or two working the peddles with a torn ACL and meniscus, but I don't think it is medically disqualifying to do so. Unless you're taken narcotic pain killers, then don't do that.

Planning this trip for a few months out...he's flying every chance he gets right now. It'll be an awesome trip though!

I get it, but as of May 1, class III no longer requires the FAA except in very rare instances and not for those of us who fly the typical eggbeaters. :thumbsup
