I practice but never catch. There are some good videos about flyfishing for carp. A quick search will yield a bunch on youtube.

Yeah I’ve caught them plenty using lures. I was wondering what if anything works in the Parker area.

I'm in the same boat, having tied saltwater flies for a few years now. But, I've never used them when fishing in Parker. I'm pretty consistent with artificials and rarely get skunked whenever fishing the strip with a spinning rod.

So, this year I've made a commitment to tie some random flies that I think would entice the smallmouth. The goal is to build up a collection of random flies, and try to land one sometime next year. That's the goal anyways....

🤣👍

To see some of my past creations, check the thread in the Hunting/Fishing section titled "Get off my Fly." 👍

I know a 3 very knowledgeable Fly Guys… 2 of them guide in the salt, the other fishes fresh & salt . I’d be happy to send you their contact info … really cool dudes who also tie their own flies … they like sharing their passion & helping others.

Here’s a vid they put together a few years back. The guys I know are Bill Calhoun, Vaughn Podmore, and Dave Valadez … solid dudes.

All three of those guys are icons in the flyfishing world. I met Bill probably 20 or so years ago when he worked at Bob Marriott's. Vaughn is a helluva guide and can put anyone on fish. Dave has come up with some amazing creations and watching those guys fish for calico bass is incredible. They've really pushed the envelope and forged ahead in the saltwater world here on the West Coast. 👍👍

Small World !
When I first met them, I didn’t realize Calhoun was a licensed casting instructor…. I took a lesson from him once …. Damn … talk about skills. I think it was back in the late 90’s … I remember telling Bill , “Dude, you could pick up chicks just casting’”! 🤣

I never had the opportunity to fish with any of them....I only know Bill from the shop. The others you mentioned, I've simply admired them from their Calico Bass endeavors. 👍

From what I've seen, they have forgotten more about flyfishing than I'll ever know!!

I used small bass plugs when I fly fished in the local golf course pond. I’d love to try some of those in the reeds above the lake.

Have you fished these with a floating line or are you using something different?? I'd love some suggestions for those of us who haven't fished this area. 👍

Floating line if indicating . Sink line if stripping . Have not fished it at PArker . But fished it at Show Low lake in the White Mountains .

Thank you that's what I figured, but thought maybe there was a "Secret technique" you were using. 👍
