PS at least he launched it at the ramp rather than landing in middle of the lake. That would have been worse by a thousand times. Always count your blessings and decent luck in life.

Havasu scanner feed had a headline that there was a crash, I don't have a membership and couldn't read the article though

No doubt the pilot a friend of Bully. Damn shame something went wrong.
Those guys enjoy flying Havasu & Parker.

In the 4th picture the wheels appear to be in the deployed position. One would expect them to be in the retracted position until they got it to the launch ramp to haul it up?

In amphibious planes, you typically only get one wheel deployed landing if on water.

Appears to have been a good landing....everyone walked (swam?) away. Would have been a great landing if the plane was reusable.

I think that's what happened. The windscreen is busted in.

Is this the csse of a failed wheel position sensor indicating an incorrect wheel position to the pilot or a case of an engine problem forcing a landing despite the lowered wheel position? Either way an "oh fuck here we go" situation to be in. Glad to hear of no physical injuries....

They had an airbag attached right there at the windshield, so it could have been from the accident or from the airbags tied and inflated.

I wish someone would drag that POS down at the springs to the middle of the lake and put it out of its misery.

I was kinda hoping that was going to be the situation.

That is exactly what happened to him.
I saw him taxing out to take off when I was pre-flight checking to go flying. When he took off he did not put his landing gear up He made his left crosswind to the river and that was his last call. he tried to land at THE mouth of the river and nose dive just like in. The video the wind shield busted in.. When the wind shield went in he caught it with his face he got a butcher's scratches and cuts other than that hes OK.. It was a nice plane. It was a SeaRay Antibiotics. It falls under the Light Sport Experimental pilot's license

A Twin Beech was the first plane I ever flew in. I was in a car seat and me and my 4 brothers , mom and dad. Dad flew tail dragged bombers in ww2 so it was no sweat for him. Don't remember a thing about, just saw a photo

I don’t know him. Really sucks. Gear down is never good. Glad they’re ok.

The plane that I fly the Super Petrel is one of if not the only amphibian that can land gear down and not go over. Just an abrupt stop. There’s actually a video on their website, showing a gear down landing in the water.

From the link:

Officials say the pilot failed to reset the breakers for his aircraft’s landing gear before taking off, and that landing gear failed to retract prior to the pilot’s attempted water landing.

Huh?

And if he had coverage on the aircraft, which in aviation is interestingly called hull insurance ( 😁 ), the loss will be covered.
