I've been easing out the back door of my shop at night with a headlight and my tac 12 for three months, trying to catch the armadillo that's tearing up the ground all around the place. Tonight I opened the door to see Jupiter rise above the horizon, and there he was, about 10' from me.

By the time I made it back to the door with the shotgun, it was running toward my shed, to get underneath it. I'm cracking up, don't remember the last time I used a shotgun. I bought this one in 2008 and have never fired it. I'm out in the country leaning from the back door to shoot a varmint. Is this a great country or what? I missed the first shot but the next two didn't.

😁

…What fun… I have a 12 gauge that I’ve never fired. Think I bought it about 2003… I’m not even sure what closet it is now in🤷🏽‍♀️

I thought I was bad - I bought a 12 gauge in 2020 and still haven't fired it.

Seems like every time I go back home to TX I end up staying up late to catch (shoot) some of those damn things. They really can wreak havoc in a nice yard quickly! My family just puts out traps but what fun is that?!

Not sure how you all have these scary guns and not have shot them....its seems like if I had guns, which I clearly dont because they could kill people, I would take them out pretty immediately after purchasing them to make sure everything cycled correctly....

I fired a shotgun at least twice every summer in CA. Rattlesnakes didn’t last long on our property or the coyotes that tried to kill my dog. Haven’t used it here in FL yet but we do have a large Armadillo that’s digging under our front porch. Too close to the house to shoot but would love any other suggestions. Have already tried catching it in a trap. 🙄

I heard that armadillo meat is good in a spicy bowl of chili. Any truth to that?

How do you miss with a shotgun from 10 feet?😄
.
I know, I know 😉
😁

It was 10' from me when I opened the door. I had to go back in the shop to grab the shotgun, and by the time I pulled aim it was about 50' away.

I'm not saying it was great marksmanship, hell, a semiauto 12 gauge with 3" mag #8 shot shells at 50' is a no brainer. But it was dark, and the little fukr was running straight away from me.

… got curious as to where my shotgun might actually be… First two closets no shotgun… But in the first closet, I saw my BB gun… That about 8 years ago…I had loaned to Neighbor girl and her boyfriend to get rid of a raccoon that was tearing things up… What did those kids do? They started shooting at birds… Never hit one, but I was still in trouble for loaning them my BB gun. …🤷🏽‍♀️
… Found the shotgun in the third closet…
… it kind of temps me to go shoot up some cactus or something in the desert, but that’s like a 50 mile drive and I don’t really feel like doing the drive then having to come home and clean the shotgun…🔍

All these shotguns and none of you use them?
There was a time my step dad and I went to an outdoor range in Irvine after work every Thursday.
2 rounds of skeet, 2 rounds of trap.
So 100 rounds in an evening each.
We’d sit around after work a couple nights reloading for next weeks shoot night.
Reloading eased the pain of buying new shells, and is super easy to do.
Some of you guys are really missing out.
And a great activity for a guy trying to build a relationship with his wife’s dumb ass son😂

Is about as much fun as a guy can have with a shotgun without making something bleed or have to clean it after we killed it.
Too much fun.

Like I said, I know, I know. My reading compression is pretty good and realized you had to retrieve the weapon, but I couldn't resist making the poke. 😊😄

Ive got a fucking muskrat that decided to eat a bunch of wires on my dock, and poontoon... neighbors all understand that a single shot in the night is not worth stressing out over.

Sneaky fuckers though, and its gonna end up being a 50yd shot from the balcony to the water

I have an old 16 gauge shotgun I got from my dad. I have a box of shells but never fired it. Apparently 16 is not very common anymore.
They can be found online pretty easily. I can't remember the last time I bought ammo in a store.

I need to go squirrel hunting at my house, the little guys have started chewing on everything.
