The Sheriffs department is after him, they went to someone else's house last night looking to make a arrest.........
Well, that's lame but if he's a white male and a US citizen they'll get him for something lol-- thanks to social media

those girls were in the wrong class. That’s what it would look like if I got my ass out on a super cross track

I agree it wasn't super close but a better analogy for this case would be if you were on a small pee wee or vet track and a mixed bag of out of control people on factory 450's that rarely if ever have ridden a real MX track in their lives came through and used you for a berm and roosted you on the way by ;)

Haha true that. I when I started desert racing in beginner class, it was that exactly. Everyone cutting lines bouncing off each other. It was a mess. I talked to the dude and told him I wanted out of that class. Went to novice and way better. They at least could hold their lines and had an idea of what they were doing.

We’re well said. I’ve been sprayed down and cut off by much slower boats on the regular. I have tons of GoPro footage from
The dash to prove this.

Glad everyone is ok and I remember growing up in Parker where you could almost touch the voter Going the other direction. It seemed almost normal.

I think most people are forgetting videos looks much different then real life. By the looks of it the ladies look like it wasn’t a big deal. Maybe it wasnt the case but who knows until they come out and say so.

Now that I have seen the Video I suppose you could take the position that it was closer than you would like it to be, but I would not call it "wreckless". I have been running big Power Skaters on this lake for a long, long time and I have, on rare occasions washed down a boat or two but never in the main lake, in the river - and as a result of having to take evasive action of a boat I was overtaking making very sharp, unexpected turn where my reaction (and the washdown) was a result of making a choice that was the "best outcome for the situation".

The boat in the Video looks like the Dondel boat. Assuming he was driving I have run with him side by side at very high speeds in the river, no issues but not on DS weekend, which I think ratchets up the risk considerably, and I assume that this was the 1st leg of the run, is that right?, if so everyone is running hard and you have a whole lot of very wide Catamarans running very fast on a relatively small body of water - looks like the HTM (not saying wrong or right just baking an obeservation) should have been embedded in another speed category of boats and I suspect that it was getting overtaken a lot.

I have also been washed down and Frankly not sure what the big deal is - other than cleaning up some water off the boat and my sunglasses I was laughing about it... Never would have crossed my mind to "file a report"....

In summary, I don't see this as a big deal , or unexpeted given the nature of the weekend, what is running out there the last 2 days and reasonable expecations.

I don't see what the big deal was
From the video in post 79, that's what I think. I've seen far worse dealing with bassboats in tournaments.

HTM seemed to be holding their line and the big boat came and went.

Maybe I'm missing something???????o_O

One of them posted on the river whips post it wasn’t a big deal. Not the one that posted it, her sister

Ive Never done desert storm for this reason. I do enjoy seeing the big hardware running hard toward the springs. I normally pull to the side and watch the big boats heading south.

I am always surprised when a ski boat or pontoon is going 20 mph down the middle of the lake during desert storm weekend. Not that it’s wrong of them but I just see things differently.

I guess most people don’t pay attention when they are driving around town, getting gas or launching that there is a shit ton of 100+ mph boats and maybe should watch their surroundings. To me it seems like common sense because I have owned both types of boats but some don’t see it that way. When I had a small boat I always hugged the shore because I thought the water was a little smoother then the middle of the lake.

Or maybe they don’t watch RDP like I do. Who knows just seems like on big weekends more common Sense needs to take place for fast and slow boats. I’ve seen plenty of small
Boats make terrible decisions and end up
In trouble. Small boats in trouble just doesn’t make the news like the big boats.

I understand but not every weekend are there a bunch of 1000+hp boats heading for a piece of paper for bragging rights.

Could a rear view mirror help on a slower boat? Just a thought...

The whole fucking problem here is social media! There were many first hand witnesses to this incident that were all participating in the event. In my opinion it is up the witnesses and the sanctioning committee to handle this situation and to figure out what's right or wrong. Because of social media this is now being debated on Fagbook site and here. Well guess what? There all sorts of whinny asshole that are against this event (and that want more legal regulation) that are watching the debates on Fagbook and here also, these debates just fuel there bullshit causes. If I was ol RD I would kill this thread.

Same shit that happened with the DCB and the conquest last year.

Yes the HTM has the right of way, no the Skater should not have passed that close.

That being said, I don’t have any sympathy for the HTM crew. They knew exactly what they were doing. They knew it was the DS poker run, they knew a bunch of boats were gonna be flying down the lake. A friend told me years ago, she liked to sit and idle down the lake waiting for someone to race...she knew what was going to happen driving 40mph down Havasu during a poker run...

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on that. As the boating community, it is our responsibility to self police. If we don't, we end up with a situation where an outside source (the government) comes in and drops regulations on us.

We should all take this situation as a learning experience because, IMO, both parties could have made better decisions.

You need to reread my post. Self policing as a boating community and the event is exactly what I'm talking about. Those of us and our enemies that weren't there it's none of our damn business! If anybody thinks it's our business who's weren't there then it's everybody's business and that ain't good!

In response to that point exactly.....you SHOULD know. A jetboat is responsible for their roost at all times as well.

Yeah, they got some spray, so what? Lets examine that for a minute. Can ANYONE of you tell me how long the rooster from your boat is while you are at the helm? How much bigger does it get when you run 75 as opposed to 55? ( assuming your boat runs these speeds) How much farther will the spray travel when the wind is blowing? Point is, it's almost impossible for any captain running their boat 90-120 mph.

I am laughing at the post on RW. The cops are going to arrest the guy?- LO fucking L

In the old days, an apology and some drinks would have solved the whole issue. In today’s world, it will be an arrest and a lawsuit. Society is way to pussified.

There is no way to accurately measure the wake from a boat like this. The idea of what someone " should" know is ridiculous. Your boat got little wet at the lake from some prop wash.

As much as people don’t like tv but In order for a network on tv to post something about you or an image of you, they would need your consent.

When will this become the crime? I don’t think it is right that someone with a phone or video can instantly take an image or video of you and post it without your approval. (This is for any level of publishing, positive, negative, incriminating).

This would be a sense of demonetization. Not what they are currently doing now that they call demonetization by agreeing on one side of politics.

I sure wouldn’t do it, I don’t think anyone should be ok with it.

So what’s the big deal? The guy operates his boat the same he drives his sand cars. Bigger, faster, more money. Better get out of his way on the lake and the dunes because he owns them both. I learned not to expect anything more from these “industry “ leaders.

To me it looks like the HTM knew what was coming behind them and they cut the corner. Skater came close to shore because HTM girls wanted to go to the right. By What I see the HTM gal giving directions after the pass should have been the one driving...

Looking at an aerial of that section of the lake, might provide some insight. The proper "Line" as the lake curves, is not always straight. That section is a gradual turn to the right, so it appears to me that somebody took the straightest line between two points instead of following the curve as it appears to me, the HTM was doing.

Lol that’s what everyone is freaking out about? It wasn’t the safest thing I have ever seen, but it certainly wasn’t the worst either.

On a side note I think if those HTM chicks want to teach someone how to drive, I’m not sure one of the faster flights of Desert Storm is the right place to do that. It’s pretty clear in the video that the person in control of the boat isn’t sitting behind the wheel.

I just saw the vid. Not sure what you guys are getting all worked up about. He passed her with more room than I've ever had on a Parker Holiday weekend. It looks like he had to move over to avoid terrain after he passed her.

Honestly I have the same sentiment. I think a lot of people are getting worked up over... nothing. Lol.

Was it a dick move? Sure.. getting arrested over it? I’d call my lawyer.

Which boat went through the spectator fleet? That’s the first I’ve heard of that.

We did have a DCB come through our area and he split the cop boat and the spectators.. lol. I was thinking the cop was gonna tip his ass for sure but he didn’t seem to think it was a big deal. Lol

Thinking he is referring to a past DS event. When a boat went wide on AZ side and went behind spectators that were floating to far out. Not this year.

He’s talking about a few years ago a DCB driven by a well known offshore driver went in between the spectators and the shoreline, everyone made a big deal about that as well.

Would you feel the same way if your kids where on that boat getting past like that?

Just takes a little bad luck at the wrong time and “poof” your life is changed forever.

Pretty sure that’s the owner of HTM driving the Huntress with her daughters navigating.

It was the year Hemmingson&Tomlinson were set on shrapnel trying to beat Predator.
Jim&Art asked me (again) if I'd help out doing the safety boat thing.
In Sprint car terms...
Think of a Sprint car jumping the cushion, driving thru the pit area never lifting&coming back out on the track EGO.
It was miracle they didn't bounce off a spectator boat.
As far as the fleet being to. far out...my ass.I had to make sure everyone was back plenty far.
It was beat Gary at all costs.

Last year I volunteered.

I don’t think he would have his kids out in the 100mph class of a poker run? Maybe [emoji4]

You think this guy made this maneuver just because it was desert storm? Nope, he would do it any old day of the week. Desert Storm does not give a hall pass to make poor decisions. Again this isn’t a race is it? So where’s the f’kn fire?

I think about my kids when I see this shit. Because one day they will be out on the water without me with my head on a swivel.

I honestly do think he did it because it was ds. But I don’t know him or his driving record

Well we are kind of on way different pages here. That move was a dick move for sure, but I don’t see it as being crazy dangerous, or for that matter even not worthy enough to have law enforcement get involved. Let alone try to arrest the guy.

i hear you and respect your opinion on this. I just see a trend happening out here that goes against the greater good of “the river” ive know for the past 30 years.
