Very proud of our daughter! She got full ride academic scholarships to UCSB and UC Davis. We are still waiting on the UCI package, but with my mom and my FIL in OC, UCI just makes sense and after the school tour today, she made her decision!!

Less than 21% of applicants get accepted to UCI. Micro Biology major and wants to go medical. Kinda surreal that we have a kid in college now!!

Congrats. That's a big deal
Both of mine are on full rides and it still is the cost of a Hallett 210. ;)

Congratulations, but keep an eye on her. My once perfectly normal niece went to Westcliff, Irvine on a softball scholarship and "discovered" she was bi-sexual.

(Not her, but you get the idea)

Congrats. My shop formans daughter just completed her 1st of 5 yr doctorate program in chemistry at UCI. She got accepted to 14 grad schools programs at USC, Columbia, Salt Lake City, etc.

But apparently UCI is one the best in the chemistry program and she did some thesis on the same research as one of the professor there that she wanted to work under.

Your daughter is going to love it. That is another level of smarts, congrats to her.

Congrats Joe. That’s huge and you all deserve to be proud.

My girlfriends daughter is being recruited for Softball all over but she wants to go Ivy League on Academics so looks like she’s going to Penn.

It seems like yesterday I was looking at colleges for myself. Time flies.

Seriously, huge congratulations and great job Mom & Dad.

My mistake. She went to Westcliff in Irvine, not UCI.

My apologies.
All good brother. I've sent a ton of girls to college on softball scholarships. Try to keep them on the straight and narrow. It's hard to do. But those that succeed have excellent rime management skills

I kid you not. We just got out of our Uber car and the kid went to UCI for history now he’s in sales and driving cars. Here’s to hoping your kid follows a different path.
Congratulations to you and your wife Joe.

Its all worth it to send 3 kids in to the world educated and without debt.

That’s fantastic, we’re still a few years out on this threshold, but it’s a primary focus of our daughter at this point. For now we visit campuses she may be interested in to see what life is like in those places, congrats 👍

Great news Joe, that is my alma mater. The school and city have changed some, but if there is any advice I can offer, happy to do so. Where to live if not commuting, strategies for courses in first year (this is when I actually did really well). My brother started out in the Bio program, it is beyond competitive, in a scary way, but it is a good guarantee of success if you make it. I always make a little fun of UCI, but it was my first choice, I had offers at all UC's, and wouldn't change choosing UCI for anything. Berkeley is eliminated for obvious reasons, LA was in LA and lacked the local support of family, UCSB is freakin' awesome btw, but I was happy to just go party there on the weekends, focus would have been a challenge for me there. Also, In N Out was just across the bridge from my main lecture hall, and I was able to work a couple hours, go to a class, work a couple more, another lecture, etc, etc, having weird schedules all day. Fraternity life suited me well as well, it was a well rounded experience for me.

Congrats Joe and family. That’s a huge accomplishment on many levels. When we got married we lived in Balboa for the first year. Our neighbors were UCI students. I’m not sure when they studied. They did drink a lot of beer though.

Congrats!
As your daughter embarks on this new chapter in her academic journey, she may encounter various writing assignments, including essays. To ensure she receives the support and guidance needed to excel in her coursework, I recommend considering a reputable essay writing service. Start by reading 99 papers review to make the right choice.
Best wishes to your daughter as she begins this exciting new adventure in college!
