Just wait until you’re in your 70’s, and your doctor blows off your prostate concerns. That happened to someone close to me, and he found out a few months ago that he has Stage 4 cancer, metastasized to his colon, lungs and elsewhere. Has a catheter bag all the time now, because it f’d up his kidneys (might ultimately need dialysis, but so far not needed), and he also can’t feel anything when he takes a dump. Chemo is crushing his immune system, so he’s been in the hospital four times in the past two months, including an episode of sepsis. Currently there with another infection, which they now think they haven’y been able to overcome because the catheter tube itself is likely the cause. Got a new tube installed this afternoon, which required a surgical procedure.

All of that to say, as you age don’t just accept what your doctors are saying. Argue with them if you think they might be wrong. Also, know that Medicare doesn’t care if you have prostate problems. If you want PSA tests, you need to request and pay for them yourself, and it seems doctors are more than happy to avoid the finger wave.
