Walk through the pits at KOH sometime and take a look around. I'm surprised the whole place has never gone up in flames due to the poor storage of fuel, the lack of safety and the foolishness of people.

No joke I watched a guy refueling his generator (while it was running) with a cigarette hanging out his mouth between his race trailer and a pit tent. Inside the pit tent was 55 gal drums of race fuel and all sorts of fluids scattered about. If one pit goes up at KOH, the whole place will go up in some of the wind storms they have.

Hold my beer.

That was a crazy huge fire. The fiberglass and composite construction of the Involved RVs must have been the source of the huge flames. I imagine there were occasionally exploding propane tanks also contributing.

I had never thought about the possibility of a large fire in that setting, but the closely spaced race trailers, RVs, and other vehicles, along with propane tanks and racing fuel, can turn a race track infield into an inferno.

Imagine the chaos and danger if a fire started in the pits at the Chili Bowl. There are close to 250 entries in the race, and the indoor pit area inside the Expo Center covers about three acres.

Like lighting a box of toothpicks. Nobody hurt, all the hard items replaceable.
