if I had a mould for a buggy body, what would it cost to do the layup? and are there shops that I could take the moulds to that would do all the work?

Try VW paradise in San Marcos. I have seen a few different style bodies in there shop, if they don't do there own lay ups they may be able to point you in the right direction. If not them maybe try Kevin @ KMG boats in San Diego, or Orange county boat repair in Stanton.

Bob,I would assume your in Lomita?:DClosest place I could think of to you would be Schiada.Maybe call Lee over there and see if he can do something for you. As far as price,I could only give you a guess,I just spray gel and push em into the lamination room:D If I were to guess(for a normal shop) around 1200-1500 bucks? Schiada may want more? But you would know you got something built well.

Where ever you go to get your glass work done,as long as it's here in so. Cal,I would love to do some trick gel work in a buggy.:thumbsup

There is a guy on the boards here that builds em at MGM Plastics in San Marcos,MANXXMAN? I think? I know thats his screen name over at Samba,I think it's the same guy here?

so here is the deal... My Brother-inlaw is trying to talk me into buying some molds he found on thesamba. he wants to "go into business". I dont know shit about glass work other than it consists of resin and glass. so oviously I would have to outsource the Layup. so being that there is nor rigging or parts to markup, and giving the info I have gotten on here. there is no profit to be made unless I were to do the layup my self.

I would love to learn to do all of this stuff but right now have a family to feed and it's not like people are pissing away money on toys anymore either.

Many variables such as how thick, lamination schedule amongst other things. How rigid do you need the shell?

Bob,the #s I threw out there were just a guess, and I would think a bit on the high side. Price of resin goes up and down with the price of oil,so the price quote you might get from a glass guy might be higher or lower on any given week.
The guys who only sell shells probably don't make more than a few hundred dollars per unit, guys like Meyers(the guy everyone copys) who sell complete kits with roll bars, dash, winshields, subframes etc, will make much more.

Sending PM.
