Just trying to get other opinions, the Mrs. and myself go quite often and usually stay at Korakia(Palm Springs) and my favorite restaurant in the world is Castellis(Palm Desert). I did stay at Hyatt Grand Champions this past weekend and am still letting my bung hole recover from the ass-raping I took at the poolside bar. Of course I complain now but at the time it seemed like the right thing spending $5.25 per beer and $8.75 per Vodka/Pink Lemonade. I like the smaller inns because I can bring my own ice-chest poolside. Well let me here your opinions.

When I am not in Anaheim at he office I live in the desert.
don't eat at Los Consuelos or any other place in Palm Spings area.
Not a family place any more.
We do go to El Gaetto(s) in Cat City. probably the best Mex food in the desert.
That title did belong to a small little place in indio along the tracks, but grandma does not cook there anymore and then they turned to soda fountain ice tea.
We have been here a while.....
As far as were to stay and play, check Desert Marriot out.
Sweet golf course and nice night life bar.
We have a very nice house with a pool, but my wife loves going over there for the day at the pool and she takes a small cooler.
(she does eat lunch at the restarants so she is concedered a guest)
Sorry I am not much help in P.S. It is not the same anymore:swear

Do you mean El Gallito, the little red hole-in-the wall right off the 111? If so, I agree completely. Theresa's in Indio is also good, but El Gallito is the best out there I've had so far.

We just stayed at La Quinta 2 weeks ago. Pretty sweet place! They have something like 40 pools! :thumbsup

My favorite place to eat in the Palm Desert area is Roy's.

Yeah, and PGA Golf courses, and excellent restaurants. ;) We had a nice little casita with a spa and fireplace last time we stayed. :thumbsup

lil missy, that would be Las Casuelas Terraza ;), and yes sipping margaritas on the patio listening to the band is always a good time.

If you're the least bit homophobic, Palm Springs ain't your place. Other than that, there's a ton of fun bars/restaurants on Palm Canyon. If you want to walk everywhere, stay between Amado and Baristo on Palm Canyon. Las Casuelas, Village Pub, Club 182 and many more.

If you're gonna go down valley towards Palm Desert, you have a shitload of choices. Way more choices than Palm Springs.

Let me know any specifics and I can steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. Yes, we're a popular local hangout with a full bar and great food. Although we're on El Paseo, an expensive street, we have "local friendly" prices. Live classic rock on Sunday afternoons too. www.rocsfirehouse.com

Wes, let me know when you're coming down. I gotta check out you're new motorcycle, if you got it yet.

Downtown PS belongs to the gays now, it's not the "family place" it once was, if you can hang having to watch them "carrying on" then enjoy a run to Las Casuelas Terraza, Great deli sandwiches are served at Sherman's and Manhattan in the Desert - NY style size -- very good, The Steakhouse at the Spa Casino rocks, El Gallito is a definite stop, down in Indio: Ciro's and Mario's for Italian, Indio: Sloane's for breakfast (German Pancakes are awesome), the River in Rancho Mirage has Cheesecake Factory and the Yardhouse, there is a hole in the wall in Desert Hot Springs for awesome steaks --- Via Capri's (casual wear and a steak that is unreal) rib eyes or New yorkers - John is the owner and has been in the desert all his life, up the road from Capri's is a nice little mexican rest. called South of the Border - also very good. Las Casuela's Nuevas in Rancho Mirage does a great Sunday brunch and you might want to check out the new hotel and restaurants and the Agua Caliente Casino. Indian Canyon Golf Resort in PS is a nice course and sheltered from the wind.

Big Squirt hit some nice places, I prefer El Galletto in Cat City and Indian Canyon is a nice course as well, I love Castellis for Italian, I'll try the steak place the next time out, don't forget Murph's for fried chicken at BD airport.
