Been thinking about this for a little bit, couldn't come up with an answer.
My Sanger flatwith nitrous for obvious reason. The Tahiti mini cruiser jetboat cuz it was always full of women and Good times.
But I think the winner would have to be my second boat. When I was a kid my dad bought a little hydroplane. It was actually mono but look like a hydro. That didn't cut it so my dad built a glen L kneeler. Had a 12 horse on it,and was about as fast as the first gen jet ski.
But in my mind when I was driving it I was Bill Muncie. That boat anchored my feelings for performance boating.

Hard to choose between some slowpoke trawlers, Bertram convertibles and sport boats. I'd settle for an early 1990's 29 Kavalk Sport cruiser my buddy built. Huge freeboard. walk in cabin, twin 454's. Mahogany deck, European styling. He changed the Kavalk name to Kazulin, building 25' boats.

Ride...for me ot was a ride in Bobby B's Sanger flat "Fanatic". Sitting that close to the eng. roaring, feeling the vibrations/energy in my body as it reved/roard and feeling the way the hull moved thru the water was an incredible rush. In short, it was a most "violent excitement" if that makes since.

Driving..my 18' Advantage jet with 540" Tunnel rammed BBC. It was a blast charging thru the chop at 90+ mph feathing the throttle to keep it hooked up, then decellerating it, u- turning and charging back thru it again as though I was circle racing. It was my "jet ski" ride at 90mph. lol. such a blast.

Ha, I was going to say the same. My neighbor who also worked with my Dad. He had the sport boat. He bought it around 1988. He wanted my dad to go half on that cruiser, but my dad was more into planes.

I have written and rewritten the response to this thread probsbly 20 times now.. lol

I’m not sure how I’d answer this because different boats have different purposes..

Favorite boat(s) I have ever ridden in for Performance is easy. 21 Nordic Ski Race with a six drive. That thing lays waste to everything I have ever been around in that size range.

Rode in would be a 21 Cougar V drive with a 572 and a 1471. Dad talked the driver into taking me and my cousin for a ride in it. I've never been in a vehicle car or boat that accelerated like that did.

I've been in some fast flats as a passenger, both over the century mark. These 2 boats in particular have deeply seeded my love for dragboats

I have driven these 2. The Schiada was a pleasure to drive and to feel the boost come on, had a banks TT BBC. The DiMarko has a 509"BBC, I didnt drive this all out but it was nice to get behind the wheel of another fast flat after not being in one for several years

I gotta admit, that was a ride I wont soon forget as well!We were at the Avi, and he had just got the motor in. I was in the jump seat in the back with no grab rails! Man, it was a ride!

He was one hell of a guy! Always enjoyed his company.

Yup, me too. Always welcomed me. I was young and had a 3,000$ jet boat at the time and he still treated me like every other big dollar boater.

Turn on the time machine -- I'm going to pick a couple from the past -- the first is late 1975, the first out of the mold 21 Challenger (designed by George Linder, later designed the Chris Cat). We tested that boat for Powerboat Magazine at our Cypress Gardens, FL test site. Powered by one of the first Johnson V-6 outboards. A pad -- deep vee that was perfectly balanced -- top end in the 63-65 mph range and the boat couldn't do anything wrong. Still a much sought after hull today if you can find one. The second is the 20SS Stoker set-up to race. I co-drove with Al Stoker at the 1981 Parker 7-Hour Enduro and won the Mod VP division at an average speed of 87.6 mph for the seven hours (and that included time lost for two pit stops). An incredible boat and engine (a 235 V-6 Evinrude built by Al at his John's Custom Marine shop in Stanton, Ca). Never under 95 mph on the straights.

Best ride I had in a boat was a Cyclone F2 ski race boat. It was 2004 however the engine wasn’t running but my heart was.

My first boat ride ever was in Parker on my best friends Hondo runner bottom T deck, injected on methanol. Talk about jumping in the deep end. I have ridden in my fair share of fast cars and my chevelle gets with it pretty well itself, but I had never felt a launch like that in my life.

Performance wise, see above, for cruising and partying it has to be a Nordic 29 Deckboat with a Teague 825 in it. The way a cat can just cut through wake at speed with comfort, I was very jealous.

My very first time I went over 100 mph....

Back in 1990 or so i got me, my Dad and brother a ride from Newport to Catalina on a 40' Scarab with triples. It was crazy fun.

View attachment 824469 100' Jones Goodell yacht, Ocean Pacific and its 34' Innovator Sportfisher. Wife and I were given full use of both boats, by the owner, for a week in Kona HI. We had the Master Stateroom. Very memorable, to say the least. Both boats were great. We caught 40lb Ulua at anchor at night. Caught on jigs off the bottom, their strength was impressive. All muscle. Caught 2 small Marlin on the Innovator and a number of great eating Dorado (Mahi Mahi). Snorkeling in Cook's Cove was amazing. The 34 footer could be placed upon to 100 footer for long transits. We didn't need to do that.
Small world!!! Good friend of my family bought the boat from OP, I have been on board several times what a great boat!!! My Dad traveled with it numerous times with John and Betty K, mostly to Alaska but John had it shipped to Australia and my Dad did get a chance to fish the reef, A trip he never forgot!!! I think John was always a little disappointed he did not buy the "skiff" when he bought the boat, but his wife had no interest in it. He sold the boat this year as he did not use it like he wanted to he is 92!!Gives me some hope!!!

The Vector has been a favorite for years but the 28 Skater has opened my mind to outboard power

Between 2 different 21’s a 25’ a Fastech, and now a 26’, it’s Hard to pick, between my 21’ with a 2.5 that ran 95, or the 26’ when it had the 540 in it an ran 125. I think I lean towards the 21’, I had it airborne for seconds at a time, fun, fun.

I continue to have fond memories of amazing and talented friends with lifetime opportunities. Several times I found myself with Chis and Ray on this LaveyCraft 390 Evo. Havasu, Long Beach to Catalina. I actually even had a test drive with it from the sand bar back to the Nautical.

Near the river mouth Chris leans over my shoulder I am around 115mph, on the throttles, he says “you got this? The props aren’t mine”.

Memories continue, and I can not ever say enough about my extended family and crew at Cobra Performance Boats where most of you recall the days we prolly met and a lot of good times. The 320 Razor was a V bottom that I really enjoyed watching come to life. Riding in it with Jeff and friends on Havasu for Desert Storm was always a gas. Did a SCOPE run from Long Beach to Catalina in it too. Driving it on havasu was solid comfort, style and powerful. Don’t forget the A/C under the deck [emoji471]

The electric Duffy we rented for 2 hours at the Ventura Marina. Had the whole family with us, and cruised around the shops and the houses on the water. Best $200 I ever spent.

Funniest?

Cruise ship to Mexico. Almost 40 people. My wife's grandfather birthday. Awesome time.

Or maybe OC's boat. The time we went to Catalina with Tom Brown, his wife, my clan, OC's clan. Kept my kids out till 1am on the night before the first day of school. Bad dad. Lol

Performance wise driving?

My friends 18ft Raysoncraft. Driving a boat like that at 17 was a Huge kick in the ass.

But my best friends 20ft Stoker was an E ticket for sure. Was two handfuls to drive. But throwing that bitch into a turn doing over 70 is like being on a set of rails. There are only a couple other boats out there that turn like that.

Going fast in a straight line, well, just doesn't have the same effect.

I haven't driven a lot of boats that weren't mine, but I've driven several different types of boats. I guess the only one that really sticks is the first boat I drove, my mom and stepdad had a 21 foot Sea Ray, I mean I was probably 9 or 10, but with supervision I was at the wheel on Lake Mead. I guess that is what made me want to be a boater. I don't own a boat right now, but it will happen again. I've placed my focus on other things at the moment, but the itch is there and never goes away.

In the way back machine, another one popped into my head. Don't laugh:p

My Pops old 19ft Bayliner...4.3 V6 and and Alpha. Light, turned good, and the first thing I drove with an outdrive. First boat I ever ran from Needles to Laughlin. 20 years ago now. Slow, but started and ran everytime. Would have it loaded with Mom and Pops, my wife and my nieces and nephew...That boat wasn't going to impress anyone, but it was fun.
