Could be time to pull a real boat and not run a plug...Allison is hard to beat I loved my ss, just a bit of a had full in big water.

It is funny I do love the top speed boats but sometimes it is better to be off the gas less. I don't boat very often in flat, I am sure it is fun, I just don't find it very often...not this year but I think the 80 is on my list.

Kind of jaded, no Talon or Liberator or Triad (STV)

Heard a few weeks ago that JR Motors in Havasu is taking on Allison Craft as a dealer. Should have a couple in stock in time for the Sand-Water-RV Expo in Havasu, November 18-19 at Lake Havasu State Park.

Is Talon still being built?

Triad no longer owns the STV brand/molds, but yeah, where's Full Throttle Powerboats and the STV's or Quarter Shots they build? Stock 300xs power pushes an STV almost 120.

It's a v hull only comparison, no tunnels, that follow up article is coming. Yes talons still being made, Bullhead Bully has one in construction with a 400r.

Haha, I didn't forget, it was V hulls only. Gonna get to tunnels soon. I love STVs, my brother has one. Love Eliminators too! Just wanted to separate the family sport boats from the tunnels, different market. Appreciate the feedback though. :) Jared

I think your new ride will be right there at the top:thumbup:

Just curious....anybody have any recent info on the Kober Kat. They were being built in Havasu a few years back. Had heard (also saw a Youtube video) of a 22 or 23-foot Kober model running a little over 100mph with a single 300xs Merc. About fifty years ago, Kober Kats were the king of the California Outboard Racing Association events in SoCal.

This could push me to build something, what would the speeds need to be to get someone interested in a single 300xs 21 foot boat, v hull boat with a back seat?

I believe the lake X boys back in the day ran 134 in an Allison. They had a steering lock to assist with the steering because the wheel torque was so great.

Allison is hard to beat but just in the flat. They like to turn right when you get out of the gas hard and not my first choice in big water. That all said an amazing fast boat probably should have never sold mine.

Having previously owned a Lavey 20.2 Sebring, I've been watching bass boats ride like that for years and always thought..

Why have I not seen a pleasure boat ride with those same characteristics?

That's a nice ride!!

Sure do miss my Sebring

Yep bass boats have been dialed in for years. One of the fastest outboards I've been in was an overpowered Skeeter.

Another contender could be the Action hulls. Those were splashed from the Hydrostreams years ago and a different deck was added to come up with their 18' Action drag boat hull. Pretty spectacular with a strung-out 2 stroke. :D

The wheel torque is crazy with cable steering. Driving is similar to a bowflew workout. 128 was the official, backed up speed I believe.

Check out Screaming Eagle Boats. They obtained the 22 Talon molds and appear to be building very nice boats. 110mph plus behind a 400R

Looks like they are doing a great job with the 22.
