When do you make time?
Gym?
Home?
Go for a walk?

What do you give up to get in some sweating time??

I generally try to get up and go before work. Been much harder to do after my car accident. Still set the Alarm same time every morning but it’s a crap shoot if I’m feeling good enough to actually go.

From what I have researched is that January thru April 5th is the worse time to exercise for your health. The extensive research I have found suggests that from January thru April 5th you should not exercise, eat pizza every day and wash it down with non light beer. After April 5th you should then start exercising. This is a very legit study!!! :D:D:D

When I am in CA, 2 mile walk in the morning. Then leave the office around 2pm and go to the gym for weights and cardio (sometimes just weights or cardio) and then 3 mile walk in the evening. Generally take one day off from the gym on the weekend. Havasu, go to Rotary in the morning and meets friends and walk 2-3 miles. Go to the gym at least every other day and back to Rotary for our evening 3 mile walk.
You gain a unique perspective when you are flat on your back in the hospital for a week.

Cheers, Steve

Sounds like me...I had back surgery in Oct. Still wake up as early as always for the gym, but I never know how I'll be feeling from one day to the next. Getting better and better though. I can't lift heavy 6 days/week like I used to. Much more cardio and days of rest in between now. It's all about movement and being pain free for me these days. I'm back to lifting 3-4 days/week, but cardio and core stuff every day.

When I go, it is before the day starts.
I usually take Nov though Feb off, since I have enough around the house, kids and snowboarding stuff going on, and then do the following March - October.
Lift = 45-60mins Monday / Wednesday / Friday
Cardio = 45mins Tuesday / Thursday

Weekdays I get up at 4am and get to the gym at about 4:40. I do treadmill for 20-30 mins then hit the weights for 2 muscle groups for 15 mins each. 3 sets of 10 each group. Finish up on the ab bench. Then a quick shower and to work by 6:30am.

LA Fitness opens at 5am and closes at 10pm. You can make time. The thing about changing yourself is not about how much time you spend at the gym. 75% is done in the kitchen and the rest is getting yourself dressed and driving to the gym.

I have a gym in my basement, i can lift, run or bike while watching the tv or jamming the stereo. My days go better if I workout in the morning but I'm usually too stiff so after work is best for me. Road running during the week and bicycling on the weekend is my current cardio schedule.

I go after work every day. Do my 30 minutes of Cardio at intense level (70-80% heartrate) then do body groups. Mon is chest/tri's. Tues back/bi's. Wed is leg day, squats and lunges (do calves while squatting). Thurs is chest/tri's again. Fri is back/bi's again. Sat is legs again. Take Sunday off.

I have been out for 3 weeks now however, cracked some ribs showing off riding wheelies on my buddies 250 lol.

Sucks, I hate not being able to exercise, so addicted again.

The after work thing is critical for me to continue to get back in shape, since you burn all night with a protein shake after working out, and nothing else.

After work mon-fri and first available class Saturday morning, 1 hour every class and it's always different. I go to a cross fit type gym that requires you sign up so it keeps you accountable.

Built a gym in my garage so I wouldn’t have to wake up as early. 4 day split with 2 days on the weekend. Never know when I’ll get home so it’s up early before work, a walk at 3pm to get away from the computer, and a walk with the pups after work. What do I give up? Not much...TV I guess.

My fitness regiment is directly proportionate to my ability to bench my body weight still. I used to be in the gym from 4:30 to 6am every weekday. Got racked up in a car accident, and didn't want to ever go back. A complete and total mind fuck...from great shape to near crippled. After several years, I got to the point of push-ups, sit-ups and misc. dumbbell exercises, but at home. Due to dietary regulations for my older boy's health, we eat pretty healthy around here. That's what has really helped me out.
Reading these though, probably should start hitting the pile again...have to stay ahead of my boys just about 5-6 more years;)

couple sprints between the sheets every other night. no lost sleep. I drive a manual transmission car to work out left leg and right arm.

to be honest, I maintain 182 lbs. and eat decent. Bought a 3-yr gym membership (prepaid) in 2010. It's been on freeze since the day I prepaid. I just have no motivation to workout. Sucks.

I gave up the bar. Yup, i’d Pop in for a quick drink. Next thing I know it’s last call and I’m ordering another.

So now I hit the gym ‘round 9:30ish. Spin for the length of an entire album. 30 ~ 45 min. Then about an hour on the weights finishing with 500’ on that rope pull machine contraption.

Been at it for 6 months or so. Feels like it’s paying off.

6 to 7 days a week. Mix it up. Hit the pavement, run. Hit the gym cardio/weights. I also mix in swimming which was harder than I thought it would be, but kept at it and really like it. So I make sure I take that 60 to 90 mins a day and exercise. I am 63, just had a physical, great results. I will more than likely get hit by a bus and die, but living longer is not the plan. My plan is to feel good while living.

I alternate gym and mtn biking each day. Nothing crazy (I'm old) but I'm consistent which I believe is key.

Funny story. Just started going back to the gym starting today.

My old routine. Up at 2/45-3:00 A.M. at gym by3:15. 30-45 mins or cardio and 30 minutes of weights (very light) at this point.

Damn it felt good!

Usually a minimum of 3x per week, if I am lucky 4. With picking up 2 kids after school, swim and baseball practices, days get pretty long quickly. I'd love to do early morning workouts, but I am already up at 3 am, and paying $9 for LA Fitness, doesn't motivate me to join a 24 hr gym.

1.5 hours gym time when I go, but I dread hitting the gym after 5 p.m., because I just cant get a station when I want it all the time. If schedule gets too wacky, I will at least hit the gym for at least a half hour before I pick up son and work out in work clothes and smash through at least 6 exercises or as much as possible. But I sure enjoy my Sauna time after a long work out and some cardio.

Quit the gym and started working out early evenings 3-5x per week with the wife. We compiled all the stuff we'd learned over the years (circuits, lower impact crossfit, weights etc) into our own circuits and we alternate them for 45-50 min or so together. Then I sometimes hit my weights or machine for a few heavier sets of different stuff each time. That and mtn. bike or surf when it's good, and along with eating better for the most part it is making a big difference, doesn't cost any $, and saves time.

6X a week...gym rat.Addicted.
20 minutes of stretching daily in the morning then 20 in the evening before bed.(Helps sleep).
Cardio daily mixing up cycling(road&mtn.)hiking, trail running.
Kick boxing daily.

I still lift weights but the focus has turned to flexibility, range of motion&cardio conditioning...I try&work in TRX&HIT.
At 60+my fitness priorities have changed.
I eat better,learning to like protein&Kale smoothies..it's a process.
Honestly,I've never felt better.
Luckily the G/F is a gym rat as well...that really helps.

Stay off the latest flavor of the week fad diets.

I used to be a morning workout guy, but my odometer has that after work now. Monday - Friday weights in my garage gym and then usually out for a HIT road cycle session on the weekend. It's the best self-medication I know.

What I'd really like to do is get a lap pool...but not very cost effective out here. Both wife and I were swimmers...best cardio known, if you don't do it right, you drown! I only know of one lap pool up here, and it's 20mi away. Thought about doing a flume in an out building, but still not the same as a lap pool for measuring distance. Swimming has less impact on bad joints, but helps with mobility. Too many surgeries and nerve damage to bulk up again...would look all jacked up and lopsided:confused:

1. I could always use more general work outs, but no matter what I knock out 100 to 150 push ups everyday.

2. I ride my bike on the trainer five to six days a week that consist of anywhere from one hour to five hour rides. Plus when weather allows I add in my 22 mile round trip bicycle commute.

3. We are starting to do some cross country skate skiing as well. That is an amazing workout and it breaks up always being on the bicycle.

4. We always try and base our travel around places that have lots of easy access to bicycles, walking and hiking. Working out doesn't always have to be a regiment. Just build it in to your every day life.

Stretching and eating right as well is super important.

I am not a morning guy ( struggle to get up before 6:30), so my workouts are usually right when I get off work. I am usually done by 7 or 7:45pm. People who say they don't have time work out are just full of crap. No matter what you can ALWAYS fit in 30 min to an hour a day; if you really want to.

I just got my yearly physical and the results are as follows. Not bad for a middle aged dipshit.

* Resting heart rate after to running to the doc appointment was 48. I wake up with it somewhere in the 34 to 39 bpm range.
* Blood pressure 106 over 62. I was even surprised at this number.
* At our elevation of 4500 feet my oxygen saturation was 97%; well above normal.
* Hematocrit levels are around 49. If I was racing in UCI World Tour Cycling (Like the Tour de France), the max allowable number is 50. Anything within a point or two of 50 is usually put on a WADA wactch list.

However, even with all this positive stuff going on I am still getting older (currently 45). I struggle all the time to stay thin. Love handles are my enemy and I love sweets! It's really hard to block out time to stay fit but you have to do it; especially as you get older. We are all gonna die, but might as well be as healthy as you can until the end.

Funny what got me started was a simple bet. Wife got P90x and she said you couldnt do it . Well I did and the yoga part sucked. Then my neighbor who is a police officer said are you trying to lose weight? I said hell no I cant afford to lose weight . He said then why are doing cardio workouts? You need to lift dead weight . Boom that was it hooked.

When l used to be a Aerobics instructor in the Eighties it was the Gym 6 days a week. Now it's 3 days a week with a 7 kilometer bike ride on the day plus a hour of weights with different types of machines and free weights. :)
Still fit and lift more weight then the young bucks half my age (63) but l sure do miss the eighties when l used to pick more snatch then l could handle,:pnow l want 3 months notice and in writing please.:D
Note, still take a progressbook in to check performance and note PB's (personal bests) do not go to the gym without this as l find just going to the gym and going through the motions without notations is counter productive.;)

CrossFit 5-6 times a week for an hour, which includes stretching and warm up. I built a gym in my garage for the days i can't get to the gym. I used to do triathlons, which required more time and I wasn't in nearly as good of shape.
