I’m kinda in the same boat. Just waiting for parts to come in to align the motorhome. Not sure where I’m going and don’t care. My best friend is gone, so me and the dog are just going. Time to get my head screwed back on for whatever that is. Safe travels.
If your random travels lead you thru New Mexico...lemme know.
We'll do cocktail's &I can dial you in great food.

So HowardFlat's dad has 10 acres and lives up here on the Puget Sound, Trip timing worked out perfectly for me to meet up with them and set up camp for a couple nights.

Just might work. Headed through there in September when I head to Texas and Arkansas. I have a good friend that lives there that we used to go jeeping with out in Rio Puerco west of town.

What is the story on the gum wall?

Some asshole put a piece of gum there waiting in line for a concert about 30 years ago, and then another asshole put his gum there, then everyone started adding it to it, now it's like 40 feet long, 10 feet high of chewed gum stuck to the wall. It's so nasty.

My little Bro is now living in Vancouver WA. If you get down around that way check out the new waterfront in Vancouver, where the old shipyards used to be. They did a fantastic job with it. Also if you get a chance head up the Columbia River Gorge and go to the Bonneville Dam/generating station. It's amazing. I've been there a few times for work and just for the hell of it.

They/We have done a fantastic job down there, and it will continue to get better. We have done a PILE of work down there, with more in design right now! The boat ride to Bonneville is even better than the drive. @Racey came right past in on HWY-14 when he turned west after coming over Bridge Of The Gods. There are some AMAZING views from the roadway as well!

Here is one of my favorite spots on that stretch.

I’m so sorry about your friend Shane. Driving alone anywhere is some of my best therapy. Washington is so beautiful and I’ve never done the Oregon coast but it’s on my list. Looking forward to following your trip.

Book out some spots at the State Parks on the coast ahead of time and do the RV next summer, you guys will love it.

Washington has some nice coastal spots, but overall it pales in comparison to the scenery on the Oregon coast. Just my opinion.

I love the drive down 101, but haven’t driven through Oregon since I retired 11 years ago. I’m tired of flying on vacations anyway, and the recent RV threads really have me thinking of a new approach, though taking a car and staying in hotels ain’t bad either. 😊

Sorry for the circumstances but awesome road trip. I have been contemplating how to get up to my daughter in Oregon to bring her home from college. Take the motorhome with a tow dolly, drive the truck and plan hotels but after that I am just going to pack some camping gear in the truck and just wing it.

No i turned at Whiskey Creek rd coming from Tilamook and never went back up into that little area.
Bit of nostalgia for me, worked in Tillamook and lived out at the beach for a year and a half.
Some beautiful country you saw. 👍

The Oregon Coast is an Epic drive.

All the sand dune riding areas are outstanding as well.

Single track trails, through the pine trees, in the sand, is an experience you don't want to miss. 👍🏼

Been down that way once. Silver Peak is real nice town 😂

By far that has to be the most dangerous road i have ever driven on, There were so many donkey's and deer on the road. I'm not kidding i saw probably 100 Burros along the side of the road, and 3 or 4 deer, the road is only 40 miles long, it seemed like every 90 seconds there was another pack of them right off the shoulder. The entire time you are dodging burro shit piles on the asphalt.

And the dust is so fine took forever to clean my truck. The Hills Have Eyes kind of vibe out there

No nearby camp spots available so i stayed in a Hotel in Newport right on the water. Had an amazing dinner at Clearwater Grille and a couple drinks afterwards.

Amazing thread! Thank you for sharing. Sorry about your loss....

Prior to being married and having kids, I used to hit the road for hours to clear my head..... Now I just stare at my house from the car debating whether or not to go inside every day. LOL J/K! :p:D

Adventures with no plans are the best! I lived life that way for a looooong time!
