I have to go to one in a bit. I've never heard of an Engagement Party before!

What's the proper etiquette here??

Bring a present? Some booze? Dress up? (its at a house) Dress in my usual shorts and t-shirt?

Some one educate me!!!

Jeans and a casual button up shirt. Take a gift for the couple and a drink you think they would enjoy. It's nice they invited you and they obviously want you to be a part of their journey. Being there is a way of showing your support for them. ;)

They are definitely nothing new. We kinda had one. It was a really laid back backyard BBQ type party.

Thanks. VERY long time friends. The girl is kinna like my own daughter in some ways, she was my babysitter as well for my kids back in the day.

All of these kids are making me old!!! :p

Nice...

It was actually a pretty nice party. Everyone was BBQ casual. Taco catering and home made tamales!

Wife drove, so I was able to have a few hits off the margarita machines...

We threw a hundy in a nice card for them.

I've had a few friends that have engagement parties and they've all been like ours. Laid back parties with a lot of congratulations and drinks. No stupid games or anything like that.

I stopped doing weddings, parties, bdays etc.. Means i have to shed the shorts and actually wear pants and a collar shirt.. F that.. Not to mention the financial burden:eek::D

Wife and I too have some of our kid's friends who we're close with and will be attending our first one of these in a couple weeks. Luckily it's at Barrelhouse in Paso Robles, and I'm pretty sure the whole friend group knows us well enough to leave us off the invite list for the gender reveals and anything else this generation has time for o_O

My sentiments exactly! lol

What I was told last night was.........................

They had it so both of the families could all meet each other, and get used to each other, before the actual wedding. My boss at work said, he went to one about 10 years ago, and it turned into a total brawl! He hasn't been to one since.

He is the nicest guy on the planet. No way he started a brawl.

There are a few people on here that know him and will be happy to say the same.
