Looking for enclosed trailer brand recommendations. 24’ preferably 83” between fenders.

Needs to tow well. And needs to have flat
Skins or panels.

My last one was all over the road empty and the panels were wavy like there was air pockets behind them where either the glue separated or delaminated.

Ive seen brand new trailers on the lot with wavy or delaminated looking panels.

The panels are wavy because they are the cheaper thinner panels.

I just priced out a new 20' Carson Racer Deluxe at $15k. I should have never sold my other one!

You can also look @ universal trailers in riverside. They build a pretty nice trailer as custom as you like. They had several out at the sand/sport show 3 weeks ago.

Bought my utility trailer here price was cheaper than the other big Tex dealers in the area. They’ve got a 22ft aluminum enclosed trailer I’d like to upgrade to eventually.

Keep in mind if you’re buying a car trailer there’s a big difference between a cargo trailer a cargo trailer has thinner floors and fewer cross beams a car hauler has a slightly heavier frame with more cross beams under the floor.

Unless it has fiberglass or similar panels for the sides, the flex of the trailer, will make them waves.

My last one was a universal. Towed horrible and delaminated. If it towed good i would have kept it.

My dad has a racer and said its great. I have my eye on a few. There all 82” between the fenders. My rzr is right at 82” wide so id like 83 but maybe its not a big deal. Carson wants about 3k to widen the fenders and you have to run wheel spacers.

Yes Sport trailers are very nice quality. Looking for one myself but they are hard to come by and good luck getting Kenny to build a new one.

I'm having cabo trailers in hemet build me a hybrid hauler/toyhauler. 8.5x24, with full 20' cargo. 2x6 main frame, 1.5x1.5 steel stud 24" on center, 25k btu heater/ac combo, full kitchen, drop queen, drop dinette with couch on one side, shower/shitter combo, .30 exterior, double insulation with 1/4 interior walls, 8k lb axles and brushed stainless stone guard was just shy of 30k. Only down side is that they are slow and we are 3 months behind schedule.

Any idea on dry weight when completed?

That seems inexpensive for what it is. Do they have regular trailers there or all built to order?

Bought the same trailer in 2006 for 5K. It's been a great trailer.

I know right! I've been shopping, but I'm going to wait. These prices are just nuts. They are almost half the price in Texas and Georgia though.

Many builders are using aluminum framework for the box now to reduce weight, so ask. Some even make an aluminum frame, get pricing on both. I had a Pace all aluminum, a fantastic trailer, never any issues. If you get a flat front, that will reduce MPG beyond 60 MPH as opposed to V nose. But same do not make a V nose. Watch the height too, most "racer" trailers are shorter inside, better when towing if you will not work inside with cabinets, etc.

You may want to inquire about a special order from Big Tex, I got two killer deals.

As to sides, some are riveted, so no waves, high end ones are aluminum panels mainly made by 3M, they interlock for a smooth side. They can appear wavy but are then cleanest look and the most expensive. Always get a one-piece sheet roof, no leaks ever. Also the GVWR, and make sure it has enough load capacity for you, or maybe too much. When you order you can often spec axles, be careful of weight and the ride at this point, always a torsion bar axles, smooth ride and LED lights.

On interior, either low end plywood (not), best is coin rubber flooring or one piece vinyl. Coin rubber has a decent grip too. On the walls, plywood exposed, or aluminum screwed to the frame, cabinets can be optional too. I would suggest 110V outlets, sort of a shore power at the least, and interior lighting from the battery as most modern trucks will charge the battery while towing. Lastly, some offer if needed an extended tongue. If you plan on making very sharp u turns this may be necessary.
Do not go cheap, a good trailer will last 20+ years and never go down in value.

I hope this helps.

That's unfortunate. Mine tows great but it's triple axle and set up tongue heavy. It's 18 yrs old. A couple panels are just starting to delam. @ the seams a little.

I cant believe how much trailers are going for these days....

I bought a brand new 24' Sky Trailer from the same company @boatpi mentioned and have no issues. Its not super fancy, I have added a lot of stuff to mine that it didn't come with and it hauls all of my shit with no issues.

Agree with others, not a fan of wavy sides also not a fan of the rivets holding aluminum skins on the outside.

I had a SKY as well and it was nice. They build a few brands under the same manufacturer.

That looks stout 👌

Unless the siding has solid backing any panel attached to each stud will be 👋
I think a lot of people don't necessarily know that. I have slight waviness in my trailer...but at the price point I was wanting to be in, that was going to be part of it.

I’d recommend a Sport Trailer.

I can get you a price for a new build if you’d like. I have a good relationship with Kenny. Mine will be done in 3 weeks.

Thank you. That helps a ton. I went by big tex and they had a few pace trailers that were decent. I may go back over there when I have more time. There are also a few other dealers over there.

Aren’t you selling your 24’?
I would if I get what I want for it. Otherwise I'm just going to keep using it as my catch all storage lol. I priced it around $1500 less than I saw them currently selling for, its like new w/spare, tie downs, tire covers etc.

Only reason I want to sell it is I'd like something in the 14-16' range so the Tahoe can tow it.
